the characters DiCaprio and Pitt play are at least in their 40's, he had a hit TV western in the early '60's I think is what I read from the plot
so they are close to the ages they are playing

I urge everyone here to check out Karina Longworth's 12 episode examination of "Charles Manson's Hollywood" she did years ago for her You Must Remember This podcast. She deftly, dramatically traces all the threads of this story with the attention each deserves. Whatever the entertainment value of Tarantino's new film, Longworth's take is essential listening for anyone interested in this story.

Surprisingly, there is a connection between Bruce Lee and the Charlie Manson/Sharon Tate murders...

Why Bruce Lee Is in Tarantino's 'Once Upon a Time in Hollywood'

Note that Quentin Tarantino was/is a huge fan of Bruce Lee, and you can see quite a few influences in Kill Bill, even with the costume that Uma Thurman wears throughout much of the film.
