What sort of equipment is needed to play a PAL DVD? What would happen if I played a region 0 PAL DVD?

If you have a dual-standard DVD deck to play the disc, you'll have to view the program in one of two ways:

    1. In its native PAL format - which is very preferable, but tough to do in the USA, due to the scarcity of dual-standard television receivers... or

    2. In a PAL-to-NTSC conversion (done on the fly, by the player) - this, depending on the quality of your player, can be acceptable, but will more than likely have at least **some** undesirable conversion artifacts.

So, if you can find a dual-standard set, I'd say watch in it PAL... if you're stuck with a US TV, however, it **is** possible to watch it as NTSC, but it's not an optimal set-up.

Or, you can buy a Pioneer 563-A and just sit back and watch it!!
