You can send Parasound an email and they are very good at responding....I will guess no more than 2-3 watts at class A.

I was thinking another big Parasound advantage is they are so long lasting, they also hold their value well. I traded my HINT 6 and JC3 JR for my new JC%, JC-2 BP and JC-3+. I got a better trade in than I expected.

I turned around and used that money to help buy new AC power chords and audiophile grade interconnects. I totally trust my dealer and I let him make recommendations. My goal was not to limit the sound of this great new gear in any way, while not spending ridiculous amounts of money. I also got an AQ Niagra 1200 power conditioner. I was already getting black backgrounds on good quality record pressings with the current gear. I now want to take full advantage of the much lower S/N ratio of the new gear. I must admit I choked when I heard the prices for some of the power chords and interconnects, but as I say I trust my dealer totally. He explained where I should put the most money to get maximum performance. He has chosen wisely over the years for me and is very good at matching compatible gear. In fact more than once in the past, he told me I did not need to spend the budget amount I had set to get what I was looking for in terms of sound and performance.

I must admit sometimes it feels like death by 1,000 small cuts. This has nothing to do with my dealer, but the realities of my system. I had to shuffle gear around to make room for a separate amp and preamp. I did the relocation of my existing gear over the weekend. I then ran the cables to their new locations and put tags on them to hopefully make the installation by my dealer a quick and simple process. This resulted in several important discoveries. It turned out my existing home theater bypass cables were too short because the new JC 2 BP is on the middle rack of my TV/Equipment stand. My HINT 6 shared the bottom shelf and was a straight run. The new diagonal run added 12" more length to the run. Another surprise: My new JC5 alone weighs more than the maximum weight for cantilevered glass bottom shelf for this rack. The required getting an amplifier stand, and again this meant several cables had to be longer.

Everything is set now, and the silence is deafening. I can't wait for the gear to show up at the dealer, so it can then show up here.

I like how you labeled your cables with those tags. I've tried using bits of tape, but they're harder to see.

Thanks. The tags you see are cheap paper tags with strings attached to the cable with an adjustable ratcheted plastic clip. I pulled all of the cables to the front of my equipment stand so the installers won't have to go fishing for them and tagged them with these easy to remove temporary tags. Plus where the JC2 BP has numbered inputs as opposed to named (phono, CD etc.) I labelled them with my choice of inputs. I have also in the past tagged all the cables with color coded tags similar to the picture below:
These permanent tags tend to slide down the cables to the floor. They are easy enough to locate and read when I need to slide the equipment rack out away from the wall. But for this install where someone else was doing it, I didn't want them to have to think about this and take up more of their time.

Also for any of those who might be wondering about the various cables I am now using. I have already updated my profile with this info. The pictures will be updated to show the new gear once it has arrived and everything is settled.

If you're ever looking at new cables, Performance Audio has a nice labeling option in their custom cables section. Looks really nice too.

On my way back into the Parasound camp. The Halo series simply do not offend your ears in any way and often this is the best thing an amplifier can do for you.

I know of one Parasound employee who frequents this thread, my suspicion is the messages will get to Mr Schram.

In the past several years I have had email exchanges with Richard on questions about gear and in general some great discussions, he was always very responsive and engaging, as well answered all my questions. Extremely professional and very approachable an all around great guy. I have never met him in person, have met other Parasound employees, I suspect he would be just like his email exchanges were.

I'm more than proud to own a few Parasound pcs, as well looking at one other one hopefully. The gear is made with care, attention to details and with the utmost attention to high sonic performance all at very affordable pricing and I'd put it head to head with gear costing more for sure.

Richard and his team along with John Curl have created amazing sounding gear all these years, they should be proud of their accomplishments and look forward to what comes in the future.
Congrats on the retirement Mr Schram, enjoy it and thanks for making the gear I own!!

    Cheers!

I recall where you went from Parasound to Pass. Did not like the Pass after a while? Which Parasound are you getting?

hi, correct. i had the pass XA25 and loved the sound but just not enough power for my listening preferences and then another pass that does not blend well with my preamp.
i bought a new a21+ and it sounds excellent, in my system i prefer it to the JC5.

Happy Retirement to Mr Schram , well deserved ! Thank you for all of the wonderful products and thank you for taking the time out to speak to me when I was purchasing the A52 from AudioAdvisor , got an amazing deal on a factory refreshed unit in 2012. My zphono , 2125 v.1, A52 and JC3 Jr are integral parts of my systems and are so amazing that to get something better at these price points would cost so much more and maybe not even sound as good !! Here’s to more great Parasound products ;)

If you're going back to the parasound it's a known quantity at this point and must be excellent.

I saw where at least one person liked the a23+ over the a21+. Anyone else heard both of these amps on their system?

Thanks, I am anxious to read my follow up too, which is another way of saying: No my equipment has not all arrived yet. It was sent from Parasound in California on November 29th. The JC2 BP arrived in New Hampshire a few days later, followed by the JC3+ a few days after that. The JC5 is still AWOL. Evidently it was shipped by truck from CA due to the weight. People living in the US know we have had some wild weather across most of the country in the last week. Blizzards, heavy rain, flooding, tornados. Add to that the normal pre-Christmas madness. What is making my wait even worse is I am selling my Hint 6 integrated amp and my JC3 Jr. back to the dealer. I had those pieces removed from the system and boxed for the dealer to pick up by Dec 2. I also rearranged my about half of the existing gear on my equipment stand to suit the needs of the new gear. I also picked up and ran all the new interconnects and power cords from my dealer. They are tagged and hanging out the front of the shelves waiting for something to plug into. So since Dec 2 I have been using a KEF Muo BT speaker for use with my remaining gear. Even when the JC 5 arrives in NH, I still will have to wait for the install. I am getting too old to try and manhandle a 74 pound piece of gear. I am letting the dealer deliver and do the final install and cart away the old gear.

I originally was planning to play the Steely Dan Can't Buy a Thrill UHQR as the first record played. After all it was arriving on Dec 8 and I thought the timing would be perfect. The gear would all be here and installed. Wrong! Looks like the first record may now be the new Countdown to Ecstasy UHQR which is now starting to ship. Yeah I know first world problems. Every day seeing those wires dangling out of my equipment rack waiting for the best gear I have ever owned has me climbing the walls.

I missed a post from @punkmusick from when I posted about my November 29th order. He suggested my starting with the JC3+ first to see how much of an improvement it offered over the JC3 Jr. As can be seen from this post, the existing gear is packed up and that cannot happened. Other than my first stereo from Radio Shack I have never installed this much gear in one operation. New electronics, new power conditioner, new power chords and new interconnects. All needing various amounts of break in time. I don't have any idea if the first impressions of the new system will be anything like what I will be hearing after several hundred hours of break in. I am guessing from the start it hopefully will be an immediate improvement, with even better things to come. We are entering the coldest part of the winter in January and February, so I won't need much of an excuse to stay inside and listen to the new gear.

Wishing you a Merry Christmas Jim0830

Thank you for sharing your audio journey with us...Your patience will be handsomely rewarded
with great gear and great sounding gear!!!.

The hard part of course is the wait...

As you have many new items for you new gear as well...burn in time will likely be of longer
duration....My JC5 sounded great right out of the box....fortunately my xlr ics, speaker cables
and power cords were all burned in by then. My former A21 accomplished that for me.

So have confidence that your new JC5 and JC3+ will not only live up to your expectations
but surpass them as well...even before being fully burned in.

The rest will each have their own swings between sound amazing to what kind of junk is this,
though you know it is not junk; it is nonetheless part of burn in....just hang in there.
You will be thrilled with the outcome!!!!

Hopefully your gear will arrive at your home for Christmas...can only imagine the
fun and excitement. You may need extra hands in moving the JC5 into place....

It was an adventure for me dealing with lower back issues.Getting my 1) JC5 box
to my listening room, 2) unboxing it with many pauses to rest my lower back,
    3) slip sliding it out of the box and up on the ampstand another pause break to rest my back,
    4) slide ampstand with JC5 to it's final place on the floor between the speakers. Had to rest
for about an hour before proceeding to hook up the cables... Wow about 4 hours roughly
    to do all that.

So....the reward was amazing on initial powering up my system with my new JC5 in place.
The sq and soundstage were well above and beyond my expectations without any burn in time
at all...So confidently it can be said you will experience the same...

May it come together for you very soon!!!

Merry Christmas to all my fellow Parasound enthusiasts and hobbyist

Not the new + versions, but I heard both in my system yes. I kept my A23 and sold the A21. Maybe the + versions are different, I don't know but not trying to find out either. The A23 kept me happy for 4 years now and will keep me happy for the next 4 (and more).

feast your eyes :) this is more like soft core though.

this one is actually my second a21+, i bought the first one over 2 years ago and the new one sounds better to my ears. maybe they make unadvertised changes that improve the sound?
