Paul McCartney #1 album in the US for Egypt Station? Poll

We here at SHMF have many dedicated Paul McCartney fans. Paul is very close to debuting at #1 on the charts with Egypt Station.

I'm curious how much we've contributed to those sales to get Paul to #1.

No, not yet. Everything I seen points to another week for Eminem at 1. I know it doesn't matter, but I kinda feel bad for Paul, he goes on a high profile media blitz (which,granted he pretty much does for every album) and gets solid reviews, and yet Eminem drops an album with no press or warning and gets a number 1 with a (from what I've read, and heard from friends who are into him more then I am, not a highly reviewed record)
It must be really frustrating for Paul, I just hope it doesn't discourage him from continuing to release new music.

 

It appears Paul will certainly have the best-selling album of the week, but it might not be enough to debut at #1 on the main Billboard 200 albums chart. Projections still have him neck and neck with Eminem.

Why on earth should that be the case. Paul certanely knows he can t compete with todays super-stars when it comes to sales. He seems to be doin pretty well as far as Im concerned. That Enimem or just about any other popular artist of now beats him is down to demographics
The music Paul makes-great as it is-is not the music most people up to 45 years are used to.

 

#2 used to be OK in the past for Paul, but this time it is not acceptable. Because he made such a beautiful, historically important album. Egypt Station has to be No.1. If not, give him Grammy Album of the Year just to compensate

And if you think Paul isn't still competitive, then why even bother with the promo blitz ? he wants a hit. The fact that the music is worth the effort is icing on the cake.

 

3 here if you include a digital album bundle - I assume those count towards the charts but nto sure if the same as a physical CD.

Also have been playing it constantly on Spotify all week.

 

#1 in pure album sales is fine by me.

I'm all for the sales + streams (and song downloads), but I still believe in the commitment of a full purchase.
