No. 147K were PHYSICAL CDs/Vinyl LPs/Cassettes! The remaining 6000 were streams.

Those count as traditional sales. The 6000 are sales equivalent streams.

Congrats beatlemaniacs! (do people still use that word?). I don’t personally like Paul’s solo career, but the long threads had me waiting for billboard charts! Haha

Listening to it on Spotify. It is actually better then I expected judging by single. Good job, Paul! It is not Venus and Mars, but good listen.

So, everyone who bought Egypt Station now has to go out and immediately buy electric arguments? ;)

To be precise, ten downloads of ANY song or songs from the album is equivalent to one album “sale,” even if it’s just ten downloads of “Come On To Me.”

If it turns out to be a number 1 album... it would have to be the most time between number one's, right? I mean... counting the Beatles... that's over 50 years between first and last.

Congrats to Paul on this achievement! I've never really worried a lot about how his recent albums have charted. The charts are generally "a young man's game" and legacy artists typically take a back seat to the younger "hot" artists.
That said, I think Paul really wanted one more #1, and unfortunately, there won't be many more opportunities. It's a well-deserved distinction for for the man whose music has brought so much happiness to millions.
So I'm celebrating with Paul and all of you by opening what is now a SUPER COLD beverage!

McCartney, a man pilloried for rhyming planet with Janet, has beaten to the top spot a rapper who would happily rhyme Janet with planet, or orange robe with wardrobe, or a door hinge with a syringe, and George Lucas with puke is. It's progress, bros.

Just what I was thinking ! Yeah Paul, it couldn't have happened to a better guy or a better album! To me it's his best solo album ever! Now, I need a drink!
