Oh thread starter darling, would you mind ever so much explaining why some songs are covered in this thread, but not others? I'm thinking it may have something to do with if Paul wrote the song, but I'm ever so confused. Thank so very, very, very, very, very, very much!

"(I Want to) Come Home" - A wonderful song, and one that fits the plot of the movie to a "T". Did this one win the Oscar movie fans?

What's the deal with the 3 track promo, Minister of Information?

Are they all the same? I've not seen this before on a promo.

Is that so the DJ can play it 3 times back to back to back on the radio? :D

Don't Stop Running is more of a traditional song than the previous few but, still, it never seems to lift off. It's okay but nothing I seek out.

Road Trip is the best song Paul has ever done! Just kidding. It's a bit of nothing. I must say that, even on the songs I don't care for, the sounds are beautiful. This is just a gorgeous sounding album.

So, has anyone flipped the backwards message around? What does he say? To my ears it sounds like "Stig's been dead for ages honestly" but I could be wrong.

I Want To Come Home is a pleasant little song. It would have made a good album track. As a single its nothing special.

"I Want to Come Home" is a good song that I haven't listened to that much, having never owned it in any form. I have a feeling that if it was on an album I listened to regularly, it would be a "grower" -- as "I Don't Know" has been for me.

I Want to Come Home - I'm not sure if I've ever heard this before but I like it. Musically it would have fitted nicely on Chaos: 3.5/5.

I don't think I've heard this. However, the original is one of my favourite solo songs by George, which I think I'd rate as a 4/5. :agree:

I Wan To Come Home - Never heard this before. Quite a nice song actually. It certainly would have made a decent album track. I'm guessing it's never appeared anywhere since it was released. Is this another of those singles Paul seems to have disowned?

(I Want To) Come Home: 2.5/5

It may fit the context of the film and contain an appropriate level of seriousness but this really just seems like a paint-by-numbers ballad by Paul to me. Something he thinks of over his oatmeal, poached egg and veggie sausage. Also the recording seems a little flat to me. It lacks some emotion and oomph to it.

I'm more curious about the 20 or so other tracks Paul recorded with Geoff Emerick at these session(s). Given the timing, I’d theorize that this was the genesis of the Kisses on the Bottom idea. Paul recorded a bunch of covers, wasn’t over the moon about them and just sat on them. Then he did it all again with Diana Krall and Tommy LiPuma with much better results. Again, guesses only. We publicly have no idea at all about the details of these Emerick recordings. And that is of course tantalizing.

I've come to cherish these live moments more and more, the rare moment when McCartney performs a good song that isn't part of his predictable setlist. Or was this just another sound check?

It actually was also performed as a soundcheck too on top of being in his live set in 2009 and 2010.
