Just saw this one for the first time a week or so ago. Pretty funny and educational show. I might have gotten my wife hooked on it too.

I watch whenever I can. The old man is a trip. The two youngest, one is a MAJOR B.S. artist, and his buddy is clueless as clueless can get.

When I first saw this show, I said "OK....It's ORANGE COUNTY CHOPPERS meets ANTIQUES ROADSHOW"

All in all, it is pretty fun to watch.

And he (Corey?) buys things like hot air balloons basically sight unseen (at least it's edited that way in the show) in this economy and expects to make a lot of money off it.

I bet that's exactly how it was pitched to the network.

I think some of is it played up on camera (chumley and corey) but I do like seeing some off the wall stuff come in and having them get valued like a more random antiques roadsh0ow, like those George Washington buttons the other night.

What about that Shelby Cobra? If it was indeed on the level (which I don't think it was - Felt completely scripted to me), then they flat ripped that guy off. Even if it was an unfinished continuation car, it was still worth (at the very least) 3 times that.

Most interesting scene yet was when the old man started talking about profit margins and scolded everyone :)

The old man is slick. When he announced the contest, the other 3 totally forgot about him being a part of it.

No, it is about something just as interesting -- the old man.

The guy selling the car got the expert evaluation information the same time that Rick got it. If he didn't want to sell it, he didn't have to. Remember, people selling to pawn dealers either need the money, or don't know how to improve and sell the merchandise themselves.

I like the show for its entertainment value. Rick's far more knowledgeable about the items that come into his shop than any pawnbroker I've ever seen. I'm sure a lot of dialogue and even tranactions are pre-determined/worked before going on camera but it's good tv.

An aside: I bet after a long day at the shop when Rick comes home to his wife, she's like "how about just 20 minutes alone.. you and me?" to the reply of "I don't know about that.. I can give you 10 and we've got a deal *shakes hand*." :D

Has there yet been an episode where someone brought in a collection of lps, or high end stereo equipment? It would be interesting to have them bring in an expert on collectible lps.

When I first sampled the program,
I thought this show is the Antique Roadshow for us straight guys !

    Interesting items being pawned.
Funny characters that seem to be real people.
I get several laughs every show.

The last one where the manager was having a bad day was a hoot.

I saw one of the several episodes shown last night where a guy (with shoulder length blonde hair)brings in what he claims is a 1960 Gibson Les Paul guitar. Turned out it was actually an early 70s model.

Anyway, Rick asks where he got it and the guy replies he toured with Triumph and Toto. Any idea who this guy is?

Yeah that guy was bummed big time!

I wonder why none of the women in the family have appeared yet?
