That's not why we won't be seeing it. And I'm not convinced anyone knows how it works. It's a complex combination of nature and nurture. Anyone who tells you it's 100% genetic or 100% life experience is 100% wrong. But you have all the answers already.

Just to clarify...if 1% of couples are same sex that means if there are 100 PEOPLE in a single movie of any kind, one of them is likely in a same sex relationship.

Wrong. You're assuming 100% of people are coupled up, which is not the case.

Weekend gross is down 65% to $17.7 million from $50.6 in weekend #1. Worldwide gross stands at $152.4 million.

I never thought I would read some of the attitudes here in 2022, but here we are. So much for inclusiveness. I'm genuinely disgusted at some of the posters in this thread.

  8. And maybe, just maybe, that 1% would be higher if the concept of same-sex couples hadn’t been so historically marginalized in both the media and society.

At last Disney isn't making movies where young women fall in love with animals or princes kiss dead women or single women live with seven men...that would really be forcing things down our collective throats.

    Saw Lightyear today
A little grandma kiss is all I saw between 2 women
    Very innocent ….
I know heterosexual Italian men who kiss each other with a lot more passion !
Some people are trying to bring down Disney so …..let’s make a mountain out of mole hill and exaggerate!

Your disgust at some parents here pales in comparison to many parents' disgust at Disney--the point isn't about this movie per se.

No, I'm pretty sure you just don't like gay people.

I'm pretty sure I don't want judgmental angry people like you at Disney deciding to shoehorn your issues into movies for kids. But the good news is we don't have to watch it.

Where are you getting your statistics?

According to a November 4th, 2021 report from the US census bureau, 4.4% are bisexual and 3.3% are gay/lesbian.

    Feb 17, 2022 A Gallup Poll found 7.1% identified as non-heterosexual.

Beautiful animation but not one of the best cartoons.

No problems with persons kissing and showing love. :)

You quoted a post that specified "couples" and then ignored the word.

You quoted a post that began with a question and completely ignored it.

So, am I to understand that you are in agreement with the 7+%?

But you are trying to suggest that 86% of non-heterosexuals are uncoupled?

And that is what you are clinging to?

Any reliable source to back that up?

Who cares? When it comes to kids' films, leave sexuality and ulterior motive out of it altogether eh?

You asked a question that was answered in what you quoted. If you don't like the figure about couples I cited, find one you like better. You managed to totally miss the point of the percentages anyway.

I'll spout whatever I want. Facts be damned!

I'm curious, did you publicly take issue with the "sexuality" in Snow White, Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, The Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and on and on?

I love honest discussions. I find they sometimes involve questions AND answers. And the search for truth. Deflection? Not so much.

So, I'll look elsewhere for someone capable of one.

I agree. All of those Disney princess movies had so much straight propaganda in them. Men and women kissing? Works for me but it's not for everyone.

I again go back to the Spock quote: "the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few." Thus my citing of percentages, to give some notion of "many" and "few" of course.
