Great. Really enjoying it. Hearing Paul’s impressive bass work with more clarity than before.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

It's about time we had an opinion thread about this. I was beginning to think the gorts were squashin' 'em!

I just got through listening to my 2CD set from Target.

    1) They had a lot of copies. The store had only been open a couple of hours so it wasn't possible to see how it's selling yet. They also had three copies of the single LP with the t-shirt.

    2) The CDs themselves have a very nice silkscreen, or whatever it is, Very high quality.

    3) The 2CD set has the same booklet content that the expensive blu-ray set has except it is, of course, smaller, and it's not a hardback. The CDs themselves come in the usual gatefolded CD slipcase.

    4) Come Together: The adlib part near the end does not have where John says "uhhhhhh". I don't like that. The bass that some people didn't like about the 2009 remaster is still there. That, I like.

    5) Something: I hear more guitar play, and, again, the bass is strong.

    6) Maxwell's Silver Hammer: the hammer hitting a metal pipe sound is lower than in the original mix, and the snare drum is nicely blended in instead of standing out.

    7) Oh! Darling: A bit of the grit is gone, but I still like it.

    8) I Want You (She's So Heavy): I'm hearing some nuance in that bass part now, and that click is gone. But, the fade of the guitar is much more pronounced.

    9) Carry That Weight: There is a sudden volume drop at about :57 seconds.

    10) The End: I love this! The interplay between the guitars really stands out. The drums are clear and articulate.

    11) Her Majesty: The startling beginning is underwhelming, unlike on the original mix. Giles & Co. made the intro and last note a bit too clean.

The sessions disc is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it.

Excellent. Didn't quite "wow" me as much as Pepper's and WA, but I wasn't really expecting it to.

(will reserve the term "Excellent" for Steven Wilson-calibre remixes)

    "Great" is better than "Excellent"

This is why we don't remember Alexander the Excellent and why the Excellent Wall of China no longer stands.

That's a bit of a reach, since those are using the term "great" in the sense of vastness or largeness.

It’s funny that you mention the
t-shirt/LP box. I bought one about 10 years ago and instead of the cover of Abbey Road in the tee, the shirt simply stated ‘The Beatles on Apple’ -just like the original black 45 sleeves. One of my favorite tees ever!
I wish they hadn’t ‘remixed’ the t-shirt. I woulda bought one of those boxes today!

Not really. To be "great" you must be notably at or near the best that can possibly be, to be a standard bearer. To be "excellent" is to have excelled, that is, to be quite better than average, but it doesn't say you're necessarily near the top.

Ok, I'm checking out after this, but you seriously need to get a good dictionary and reexamine your position.

It's frustrating to read when you're not part of it! I'm on the fence with this remix so I'm very interested in the forum opinions on the remix and unreleased material. I'm so happy with the original mix, I don't like the idea of another one, but if it's amazing, then I'm all ears! I liked the White Album one.
