"Randy Scouce Git" has git up and go. We've reached the final. Remember that you're still voting for the weakest link and not the song you want to win.

Discussion question: What would your final pairing have been?

Up next, @Oatsdad has Bruce Springsteen Tunnel of Love.

    I shortly have to leave.....................................

    Randy Scouse Git (Round 6)
    You Told Me (Round 5)
    Shades of Gray (Round 4)
    Sunny Girlfriend (Round 4)
Early Morning Blues and Greens (Round 3)
    Forget That Girl (Round 3)
I'll Spend My Life with You (Round 2)
    No Time (Round 2)
    Mr. Webster (Round 2)
I Can't Get Her Off My Mind (Round 1)
    Zilch (Round 1)
    Band 6 (Round 1)

You Just May Be The One to go.

My final pairing would be For Pete's Sake over Shades of Grey.

I think this would have been my final pairing - and it's really, REALLY hard to choose...but I have a lot of affection for For Pete's Sake, which aside from his two Head tracks, is easily Peter's best composing contribution to the band.

Pete must go. I can't believe it made it to the final two.

My final pairing changes a lot, but probably would have been "You Just May..." over either "You Told Me", "Shades of Grey" or "Forget That Girl" depending on the day...

"For Pete's Sake" to go making "You Just May Be The One" the winner.

DQ?: "You Just May Be The One" woule be my champ with either "Sunny Girlfriend" (today'schoice) or"You Told Me" as runner-up... & the non-album(but from the same time period)."The Girl I Knew Somewhere" is absolutely that great too.

As much as I love Mickey Dolenz (great pop vocalist) The Monkees are majorly about Mike Nesmith for me personally- total genius.

Love them both, but I give Mike's song a very slight edge here. As for my final 2, I guess You Told me and Shades Of Grey, with Davy and Peter a slight edge over Mike.

Still surprised at the lack of love for “Randy,” but not at all surprised “You Just May Be the One” makes it to the final.

Been voting off “Pete” for the past four (?) days so no reason to change. Still a terrific song, but there are (IMO) better ones previously voted out.

“You Just May Be” is great, and it’s a classic, but I think I like Mike’s other HQ songs better.

Something about the “all men” line always bugged me. But it’s a fine song nonetheless (and any perceived mysogyny there is pretty tame).

The “I-I-I... saw when you walked by-y-y...” bridge of the song is absolute ear candy. Pop perfection.

DQ: This is a pretty good final, but mine would’ve been “Randy Scouse Git” (winner) vs... Any of Mike’s songs on the album, or the highly underrated “Early Morning Blues and Greens.”

For Pete's Sake is my choice for #1

runner-up is... Shades of Gray (always saw this as a subtle Vietnam protest song...)

[my life work consists of doing the number crunching for the deeds of the Mr. Websters of the world, used to work with the prosecution, now it's mostly criminal D and any possible angle on a civil settlement]

    Pete to go.

My final would have been You Told Me beating You Just May Be the One

I'd have "You Just May Be The One" over "You Told Me."

"Sunny Girlfriend" an "Mr. Webster" rounding out the top 4.

Petes Sake as the closing song after the 1st season, Ive just been in love with since childhood.

Just May Be is just an awesome song in its own right. But I gotta vote it off the island. Painful tho that is.

Voted for for For Pete's Sake

Shades of Gray is the one song that really registered with me, so my final would have that defeating one of You Just May Be the One, Forget That Girl, I'll Spend My Life With You, or maybe even I Can't Get Her Off My Mind, which are the other songs I can recall the hooks of even though it's probably been five decades since I listened to them

It was hard to choose with these 2. They are both great. Pete's song is a stone cold classic. Oh well, this was fun.

I'm not that familiar with this album so I didn't vote. But the winner is probably my favorite Monkees song. Good job team!

My picks would have been "Blues & Greens" and "Shades Of Gray" but out of the two finalists here... it's close, but "You Just May Be The One" takes it.
