What a great first set of a concert these songs would make. Pick up to four!

Some great ones listed here, but there's something special about "The Seeker." Exemplifies the Who attitude for me... constantly dissatisfied, but still searching for a connection.

Wasn't 'Long Live Rock' a single that didnt appear on an album ?
Anyway I vote 'Join Together', though never liked the blues version they played live.

Always thought "Pictures of Lily" was an interesting subject for a song. Same with "I'm a Boy." Pete was really thinking outside the box there.

    I prefer my Who pre-Tommy...

1.Anytime Anyway Anywhere (1966)...with a closing equal to My Generation

    2.I'm A Boy (1967)...quirky but essential

3.Happy Jack (1966)...Who ala Beach Boys with unnerving & maddening results

4.Pictures Of Lily (1967/68)...teenaged angst at its best & 1 of Peter Townsends most brilliant moments & Entwistles spurts of flugel horn add to the tension & final release ;)

I picked "The Seeker", "Let's See Action", "Join Together" and "The Relay".

If I had to pick just one it would probably be "The Relay". Well, or "Join Together".

Correct - it wasn't on an album - it was on two albums.

It was an album track on 1974's 'Odds & Sods', and it was also on 1979's 'The Kids Are Alright' soundtrack album from which it was extracted as a single.

Very hard to pick, but I go with “I Can’t Explain”. The Stones are my favorite band and the Beatles are the Beatles, but that blows away both of their debut singles! Pure, powerful, timeless.

And then “Magic Bus”, “The Seeker”, and “Substitute”.

Then that excludes I Can't Explain and Magic Bus from the list.
I consider Odds & Sods to be a compilation album the same as Magic Bus:The Who on Tour , Meaty Beaty Big & Bounty and 30 years of Maximum R&B which would wipe out all those listed.

    The selection is weird.

    How about

    In the City
    Doctor Doctor
    The Last Time
    Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde
    When I Was a Boy

    or

    Bucket T
    ?
