Bill Nelson has done many, but I've liked him ever since I was introduced to the Axe Victim album, so here's how it started for me...

Pretty much one relentless Angus solo after another.

I was gonna mention the No Trains to Heaven solo from that album. Or the closing solo on Sound Track from the Futurama album (dueling with himself). Bill was truly breathtaking in those days.

This isn't Yngwie, Vai, Clapton, Morse, Blackmore, Rhodes, Lee or anything .... but I think the guitar in this is fantastic

    God there are sooooo many.

I'll just mention some from my favorite band, Dizzy Mizz Lizzy. Their singer/songwriter/guitarist Tim Christensen is one of my favorite players (and songwriters). Everything he does has an amazing touch for melody which connects directly to my brain cells somehow.

The iconic solo from their song Silverflame (which is the Danish "Stairway to Heaven"). Solo starts at about 3:30.

This riff & the solo from the song Glory is what turned me onto them. Solo starts about 2:30. Short & sweet walk up the fretboard.

Tim never seems to play the solo in that song the same way twice live either. I love what he does with it in this extended recent live version.
Dizzy Mizz Lizzy @ Smukfest 06.08.2016 (full LIVE show)
Song starts at 18:10. Solo starts at 20:40. At about 22:40 he throws in the trademark melody riff for Silverflame which the crowd responds to, and after about 2 run throughs of that he then pays tribute to fellow Danish superstars D.A.D. with the trademark riff to one of their songs. He pays tribute to a lot of other artists in his solos from time to time. Is fun recognizing the stuff. Things like The End by the Doors or Ennio Morricone's Good, Bad, Ugly theme are the 2 biggest examples I can think of.

Danny Gatton. Not the best sound quality, but in any style he was a monster.

This guy has completely dismantled me over the past couple of weeks. This is one minute long. You have time. I can loop this for 1/2 hour easily. He fits a lot in one minute. I love this guy.

Mike Bloomfield - Stop (1968). It's among the finest blues-rock improvisational playing I've ever heard.

Lipstick On Your Collar - Connie Francis

Here’s one I've really liked since it's release (1959), as we always got her current offerings when released.
Every aspect of the recording never ceases to bring a smile to my face.

It's played by Jazz session guitarist George Barnes, and certainly did it's bit to also help shape the style and structure of pop solos to come:

This YouTuber does a pretty good job of nailing the solo (close to the tone too), then plays it at half speed, then really goes into detail for beginners, with everything you need to know about the solo’s structure, and more, in a full 16:00 tutorial!:

Guitar Solo 08 - Lipstick On Your Collar - Connie Francis - Tutorial

Some time later, he also published a short tute on the song’s intro:

"Hibernation" - Ted Nugent & the Amboy Dukes

Probably cheating to post an instrumental. But Ted plays the heck out of this. Even better on DOUBLE LIVE GONZOS.
