I may have to look into this. I have a few panels that would probably benefit from some scatter plates, hopefully a small order isnt too expensive. I'm sure its cheaper than getting some more panels from GIK though.
I ordered 8 unfinished scatter plates made from 1/8" maple veneer plywood @winged creature. The maple veneer quality wasn't amazing- with some (American) football shaped patches here and there and a few splits near an edge on a couple of the panels. Apparently maple plywood was hard to come by in Poland. Once sanded, stained, and sealed though, none of warts were blatantly visible. You would need to be inches away and looking for imperfections to see them. The 8 panels were about $400 CAD with shipping included.
I haven't had a whole bunch of time for listening, but the MC4 is proving to be a great match for my Koetsu so far. Will report back with more details once I've tried a few carts and done a comparison or two.
I may NEED one of these too. Just Say'in Walnut Wood Office Chair Ergonomic Armless Chair Real Genuine Leather Desk Chair | eBay But these are Cool too. Aeron.
Thanks We can blame Rona for most of it! And Microsoft Teams. And the Internet. This is what I mostly see: Hardly any nodes or harshness, appropriate ambiance and air. Sounds good from anywhere in the room and it can sound better.
I don't want to upset you but I think you overrate your furnishing. Plants and curtains are no diffusors and curtains, shelfs, cupboards, chairs and tables are no bass traps. Even the so called bass traps in the room corners only absorb mid to higher bass frequencies, but they help to reduce echos. Diffusors work in a defined range and the shape has to be calculated. Also they don't work without a hard surface. Therefore plants and curtains can't work properly as a diffusor. Bass traps need high mass but lower flow resistivity (Pa.s/m2) if they should work under 100Hz. I believe you when you say it sounds good in your room because furnishing is better than an empty room but I try to avoid that other users get wrong informations about acoustic treatment. Apart from this you have a very cosy living and listening room. Maybe helpful: Porous Absorber Calculator If you really want to know where your nodes are, try this: Online Tone Generator - Free, Simple and Easy to Use. Start at 20Hz and shift the frequencies in 1Hz steps up to 200Hz I guess you will be surprised how much nodes are still there.
Added some Isoacoustic pucks under some of the gear. Also picked up a second subwoofer, fairly cheap Klipsch, we will see how well that goes this weekend.
Its not what ears tell me. I listen with my ears, not the charts. Although I do Love the charts and graphs. They're my favorite part, especially the graphs in color. This are what and where things are because it sounds better that way. Function over form mostly. Some objets sound better than others in certain places. Book and Record shelves are the BEST bass traps! Work wonders. No nodes to speak of. You can inch your way around the room and find few. Ive treated room for 30+ years. I have all the tools too. But the best ones hang from the sides of my head. Its not a mixing studio - they dont make good listening rooms!
Thanks, there a story there but it’s not that interesting. Those lines are pretty terrific for focusing speakers.
This is the ultimate goal I want from my living setup. Incredible space brother. Let me ask... I'm also very interested in routing a sub beside my couch in my living area, but it being a powered sub makes it tough to run wires. How'd you manage to run that without cable being in the way? Under the rugs I assume?
Weekend to myself so I decided to pull everything, clean and get weird. Pulled the jumpers in the amp to used the mac as a pre amp and driving the speakers it an old Magnavox counsel amp. It’s nice.
