I believe I am pretty well finished at this point-I know everyone says that :).

But I think I am for a while. Had my phono stage repaired and recapped recently and if it continues to hang in can't see replacing anything for quite some time. Might experiment a little more with NOS tubes for the integrated but set up there pretty reasonably as well.

That is a variac. I run my turntable (a Michell Gyrodec with the original Papst AC motor in it) off the variac. Turntable is permanently switched "on". To turn the table on and get up to speed I simply dial the variac up to 115-120V and then dial it right back down to around 60V. Reducing the voltage considerably lowers AC motor noise & vibration thereby improving sound quality. To turn the table off, I simply turn voltage back to zero.

I got the idea from Harry Weisfeld of VPI 10-12 years ago after he posted about it at Audioasylum. Reducing voltage output following startup is one of the main things that dedicated turntable power supplies like the VPI SDS/ADS & Linn Lingo do.

The variac was about $50-$75 when I bought it. Think of it as a poor (or frugal ;)) man's SDS/ADS or Lingo.

Thanks! The top tape deck is a Studer A807. The bottom deck is a Technics RS-1700. The receiver is a Pioneer SX-1980. Below that is a Sansui EQ, a Pioneer reverb amp and “dynamic range expander”, none of which are actually in the signal path, just there to provide visual appeal ;) Lastly, the speakers are Pioneer DSS-9’s.

Been super hot here, so shacking in the basement. Connected my Optimus 5B’s to this old Phillips tube console with a newer than it dual 1226.

The tuner on this Phillips is ridiculous. No external antenna and it pulls 5x the stations as my JVC -and Pioneers tuners up a level. Very fun to listen to this thing, hope you enjoy:

It uses a raspberry pi just like the pro-ject device but the DAC is very different. It uses my PecanPi DAC with dual flagship Burr-Brown dac chips which offer true balanced outputs. Also, the PecanPi DAC does full re-clocking to eliminate jitter. Do you have a specific question?

I was just curious, the pro-ject is just a streamer alone so I use a chord 2Qute for DAC duties.
