I guess the Dual and Thorens count as part of the vintage system...

Thanks! Yeah, I know the room could be improved. There are some non reflective surfaces near by at least.

Visit any time! We don't have bears, just coyotes and other wild beasts.

I think your non-reflective surface wants dinner.

I was rooting for the malamute at yesterday's dog show, but I gotta say that your pup is even handsomer. Is his name Everest?

Thanks! Yes, her name is Everest. Her original family had a kid so I suspect she was named after the siberian husky on the show Paw Patrol. I'm not sure though because as far as I can tell she's more Wookie than husky, lol.

Excuse me for the self indulgence of posting all these pics, but my main amp came back from being repaired today and I thought I'd show how it looks in place of the Kenwood:

And the Kenwood back in amp supermax:

Today is my first time hearing the Torii Jr with the Dynacos and they sound great together -- super impressed with these old speakers.

Just picked up some older Quicksilver Mid Monos - very impressed with these and the P2P wiring is impressive. The midrange and highs with EL34s is magic. And the bass with my KEF Ref 1s is surprisingly good. I think the Mid Monos are keepers.

Gorgeous system and room! Looks like you’re using a relatively simple power strip, or am I missing something fancier hidden behind that beautiful hifi cabinet?

Looks amazing! I’m always happy when I see someone who clearly has found some serious mojo with an all digital system.

The Mid Mono are great because you can run almost any EL34 or 6L6 variant.

KT 88 are the largest you want to go if yours it the second gen version. The first version could take KT90. The current version can take KT120 I believe

First version the OPT is larger than the Power Trans. One pot for bias

Second version. Transformers are the same size. One pot for bias

Current version. Dual bias , one pot for each tube

One of my favorite tubes in those amps are JJ 6L6gc I liked GL. KT66 and 88 too.

Those Little Hero looks very interesting!, can you comment a little more, do they have the "horn" sound, why did you choose the smaller one?

    Thanks

@gryphongryph - I take that back. There is a little transformer hum but nothing you can hear if your ear is more than a foot away from the transformers - I probably would have never noticed if you hadn't asked.

    Hi Pata,
They certainly are interesting! I really don’t have much experience with horn speakers. I do have a pair of Hornshoppe Great Horned Heils, but they are a different kind of horn. (They are a folded horn). I am very happy with the Little Hiro’s. They are very different from what I rotate in and out of two systems. They are dynamic, very fast, detailed, and throw a huge soundstage. Last night I moved them down to my secondary system. Down there I can play a bit louder without disturbing my wife. I went with the smaller version for two reasons. First reason is my main listening room is only 9’x13”x8”. Never owning horn tweeters before,I didn’t know what to expect in such a small space. The second reason was the fact that these are his entry speakers, and not as much initial cost. After listening to these for a couple weeks, I’m really happy with them, and in turn,I’m curious as to the upstream models. From what I see,the larger models use a folded horn cabinet design, and different compression drivers.
The speakers are very solidly built. At some point,I may upgrade the compression driver, and horn mouth. This would bring these up to the Little Super Hiro spec.
