Ah, I see. Great that Spendor was already prepared for this! Thanks! It was initially very confusing to get my money refunded and not be given any further instruction.
Oh heck, I am seeing one area you can make a significent tweek, and here it is, swap these for the ones you have now, I promise you will like it!!!
The MoFi, with its solid wood plinth, sounds absolutely amazing. It’s a better sounding deck than the 1210GR no matter what cart I use. It’s just quieter. But I love the 1210 for the ease of cart switching, which I do monthly or so. I have a blast with both. If I had to keep only one it would be the MoFi.
Not the right thread for this, but my favorite thread. But maybe with all of the TT knowledge here you can illuminate me. Going back to my turntable days, '72-'84... 1st was a Dual 1219 w\ Shure cart idler drive 1976 got a B&O belt drive(round white belt) In 1980 bought a totally new system with a Denon DP-?? direct-drive with a Denon 301 I think, MC. As I remember, the big debate was belt vs. direct drive with the Rega\Linn folks proclaiming the superiority of belt & that servo-controlled DDs exhibiting cogging etc. Seemed to be Japanese European thing I do remember when the Technics came out & the usual reviewers were meh about it still expounding on belt-drive. What the hell happened with DD being accepted as equal to BD? I missed the whole thing probably because I jumped on the CD train fairly early 84. Thank you! IME, I found the most significant improvement came with the moving coil Denon cartridge
This could have been the last Fleetwood Mac album...Christine and Lindsey with John on bass and Mick drumming. I listened to it again today and it is quite good. I didn't miss Stevie at all. RIP, Christine. Thanks for sharing your music with the world.
This little porcelain owl lamp was my nightlight when I'd sleep at my grandparents' house as a kid, and I inherited it when they sadly both passed this year. I think it gives the Dynacos some 70s cred...
there were gold lion kt77's in my sonic frontiers sfs-40 when i got it and i used them for about a year... when i got my preamp upgraded... it came back from the factory with all NOS tubes... and since i didn't have an accurate age of the tubes in my power amp... i decided to get all new tubes for that... it was right smack in the middle of the "tube crisis" that never really was early this spring... i ended up getting some EH fat bottle 6CA7's and i have to say i like them more than the gold lions. personal preference of course... but i find them to be a more versatile tube... the gold lions were amazing with jazz and classical... which i listen to... but i also listen to all manners of rock n roll and the hip hop and dub reggae and i feel like the EH's can handle whatever i throw at them... i started my tube journey with another EL34 based amp... an anthem AMP 1. that had Svetlana Hard Blue tubes in it and those are not available anymore which is a tragedy b/c of the tubes i have heard those are by far the best EL34's for my $$$$.
@action pact and @Slimwhit33 you both have gorgeous systems I love Spendors and Fischers and Luxmans and those tables both of you!
Thank you! The combination of the Fisher X-100 (EL84s) and Spendors works wonderfully. Despite the Fisher’s low powered rating (12wpc or so), it has no problem driving the SP3/1Rs at all. Good eye!
Hi, it’s a 211 set, Kondo Ongaku Japanese clone, just bought second hand very good impressions on my first testings . OTOMON Laboratory (音門ラボ) / Audio Note Kondo Ongaku type 211 SE tube amplifier with FW-150-10SR
This is a bit of an odd post but I was reading an article in the NY Time about octagonal houses, fascinating in and of itself and in one of the photos there is a pair of speakers and even more exciting speaker cables! In a real estate glamour shot! I bet this room, being round, would sound good with some furnishings and wall hangings. I'm guessing these are Klipsch Heresy's maybe?
