I was playing around with the pano feature on my camera phone this morning, so thought I'd post a picture..

Is that floor green?! It may be the lighting, I can't tell.... Either way, I think I've just seen the color I will paint the floor of my next listening space.
Its actually a 70s carpet just on a cement floor.very old and very flat.. Still has the hemp backing...Guess I can smoke it if I ever get that urge.. And yes its green
Almost finished upstairs system with just arrived 1200GR. AT95 on to try. Waiting arrival of Ortofon Anniversary 40 cart
How well does the Brio drive LS50’s? I’ve just upgraded my amp, so my Brio-r is going to my Dad and he needs speakers. These are currently top of the list, unless I give up my monitor audio gold 50’s.
To me they sound great, although I don't go above 9/10 o'clock on the volume dial (if that makes a difference).
That’s great thanks, I don’t think he will listen too loud anyway. I had read that they’re hard to drive.
In my small room, the LS50s sounded terrific with the Brio-R. It was actually a very good pairing; the warmish Brio-R nicely balanced the KEF's more "hifi" tendencies. Heck, I got good results pairing the LS50's with a 14-wpc vintage tube amp too, running off the 4-ohm taps.
Swinging on the lifeline Fraying bits of twine Entangled in the remnants of the Knot I left behind And asking you to help me make it Finally unwind
I hate to be the lone dissenting voice, but I don't think the Brio and the LS50's are a great match. They're fine, but the LS50's really wake up with more power, especially in the bass. I went from a Brio-R to a Yamaha AS-2000 and it was dramatically better. I like the Brio, though. I'd have another with more efficient speakers.
I know it's a jump for some but before pulling the trigger on that pairing I'd recommend listening to a pair of LS50W as well. The LS50 sound great with any competent amp - they're a bonafide modern classic. But in my experience they sound their best in the active iteration. As @james mentioned, it takes power to get them to really sing. My McIntosch MA6300 couldn't get the job done.
Thanks for the input! Alas this started when I was trading in my Brio-R and DAC-R (also an Aria phonostage) against a Luxman 509x and my Dad asked if he could have them for the trade in value, I’m keeping the Aria for the moment, but added my Apollo-R to the deal as it makes a great set for him. So the front end is fixed. We agreed to hold off as I might pull the trigger on Arden’s next week and he could take my Golds instead.
My wife and I moved a few months ago, and our daughter arrived about a month after and so it's taken a while to get the hifi set up. But I've finally got around to ti and just enjoying it whilst I have an empty house! And no, the radiator isn't turned on, I closed it.
