R.I.P. John Prine 1946-2020 dies of Covid-19*

I don't know if this belongs in the general coronavirus thread or not. Please delete it if it should be.

Unfortunately, this topic is going to become more and more common, and we will most likely lose some artists from this. I really hope John isn't one of them, but he certainly isn't in ideal health.

Hoping that John Prine tests negative.
If positive, hopefully he recovers quickly and without any serious not long-lasting illnesses.

 

A musician who many people are fans of who is an at-risk category. Why would we not? I thought that his fans who were not yet aware would want to know. Would people not be allowed to discuss Mick Jagger's heart surgery last year? Would they not be allowed to discuss John Prine's recent cancer scares? Why is this different?

 

You are excused to leave and ignore “threads like this”.

 

Unfortunately, it looks like John has now tested positive.

Well, let's hope and pray both John and his wife get through it.

 

John Prine’s family describes the situation for John as critical in a post on Facebook and Instagram. That’s terrible news. I hope and pray he’ll get through it.

 

I hope and pray for John and wife to pull through this also. I've enjoyed his story telling style for forty years.

I realize that many many people have been lost to this, but now I'm feeling anger. Hang in there John, I wanna hear the song you write about this when you are better.

Knowing his wife was infected last week put it in the back of my mind enough that this isn't a shock to me. It is still distressing. This man's music has moved me like little else. I saw him about five years ago at a festival and he looked really rough but was just a diamond of perfection in his performance that night. I couldn't have asked for more as tears streamed down my face during various moments in the show.

 

I’ve seen him four times in the last few years (twice just last month) and yes, ”looked really rough but was just a diamond of perfection in his performance” is true of every one of these concerts. Amazing shows that me laugh and cry.
We need John Prine more than ever in these dark days. Hang in there, John.

 

Oh no. This depresses me so much. I hope he won't be smoking that nine mile long cigarette in heaven just yet.
