Roxette were part of my childhood. My sister had all of their albums on tape (most likely still has them), and I would often listen to their music on the Walkman, especially the "Joyride" and "Look Sharp!" tapes. Very sad news.
Terrible news . Roxette succeeded when I was starting to get into music (12-15 years old) and for a while it was my favourite band. I moved on to other things, but sometimes I listen to them for the memories. Now, as their song said, "things will never be the same".
I was a huge Roxette fan in my early teens. Still listen to them from time to time. Rest in peace Marie.
I was just wondering how she was the other day. I knew she’d retired from touring and Roxette a few years ago and there’d not been much news since then. Very sad news today.
Wow. "The Look" was like nothing else on the radio in North Florida in the late 1980s. It took a while to figure out who that band was but after I did I got Look Sharp! as soon as I could save up enough money for it. They really hit it big after Pretty Woman came out.
RIP. Great pop voice. I wasn't aware how ill she had been -- sounds as if she struggled mightily for many years.
RIP Marie Frederiksson I remember their song, "It Must Have Been Love" on the radio back in the 80s when I was a kid. Great singer and great band.
Very sad. When I was a young kid in the early 90s I called Rikenbacker to see if I could buy their posters that I always saw at my local music shop and they did me one better and sent them out for free. They sent the Lennon poster, Townshend, Susanna Hoffs, Petty, Chris Squire, and Roxette. I recognized them from TV but didn't listen much. I still hung that poster up because the people at Rickenbacker were so cool to have sent them all out for free. Here is that poster. RIP Marie. Too young to go.
Jeez.... Just saw "Long Shot" the other night! One of their songs got the spotlight, smack in the middle of the movie!
This is a sad day, i have been following Roxette since the late 80s when they had their first big hit " The Look ", i was lucky to see them live here in Norway in 1994 RIP Marie Fredriksson
RIP Ms. Fredriksson. Sincere condolences to her family, friends, colleagues and many fans around the world. It is sad that she suffered for so long. Her music will live on.
