Recommend a more obsure Steve Hoffman mastered disc you love

My avatar, Instant Soul: The Legendary King Curtis! I have a bunch of Mr. Ousley's recordings, obscure and common and this one is my go to.

 

The Poll Winners Analogue Productions Fantasy Series 2x45rpm LP - wonderful music and easily one of the best 10 sounding LPs in my 3500+ collection

 

Don't know if it's "obscure" enough for this tread, but I like the Jim Croce 50th Anniversary Collection very much.

 

The Don Covay disc on Razor & Tie.

 

Lot's of Good Songs on this Razor & Tie 2 CD Set(and I can just skip 'We Built This City' and the Paula Abdul Song and a Few Other Songs). Although the Seller on Discogs or Ebay who I bought it from had Overgraded it as NM as both CDs had several marks, it plays with no issues.

 

This one rocks!

 

Not obscure but -- Eleven Modern Antiquities by Pugwash

 

This other Razor & Tie 80s collection is also very, very good.

This is a very tastefully programmed compilation of some of the edgier music from the early eighties that I loved:

 

I love the Reelin' in the Years, 5 cd series. Mostly classic 70's rock, mastered by Steve Hoffman.

 

"Call Me" and "The More I See You" come to mind, without looking.

 

I think this is Hoffman's work. He also said he did a Tanya Tucker album but I'm not sure if he meant an album or a comp. Perhaps the MCA 20th Century Masters comp CD? Couldn't find mastering notes anywhere.

Dion- THE RETURN OF THE WANDERER
Dion had a great band for this album and a terrific bunch of songs. I Used To Be A Brooklyn Dodger and a cover of Dylan's Spanish Harlem Incident are standouts.

Sammy Davis Jr.- SAMMY DAVIS JR. SINGS AND LAURINDO ALMEIDA PLAYS
Just Sammy and a guitar. A wonderful display of Sammy's talent and Almeida plays some beautiful guitar.

Peggy Lee- LATIN' ALA LEE
Mastered directly from the dry three track master tapes. This one was recalled so it's a rare one.
The BEWITCHING LEE Greatest Hits was futzed with after the fact but "Is That All There Is" was slipped on untouched from the original master mix.

 

On the strength of the DCC Compact Classics Sampler I have, (IMPS 006), the self titled Phoebe Snow, and ”Sincerely” from Dwight Twilley

 

A neat album.....great sound. I’d love to know the reason for the hard left/right panning...?

 

The SD/Almeida is sublime.

 

I was looking at this CD earlier in the year and had forgotten about it, so thanks for the reminder, as just bought a NM Copy. Worth it alone for the SH Mastered Joy Division & Magazine Songs.

 

The Andrews Sisters Rarities.

 

Someone already mentioned Sincerely (which I regrettably don’t have!) so I’ll put this one here. Both great Rock ‘N’ Roll albums!

 

The Peggy Lee LATIN’ ALA LEE was the CD.

 

I love that series, especially volume 4.
