Folk Rock was big in 1965/66. My folks bought the (Capitol) Rubber Soul as their very first Beatles album. They loved it, especially Just Seen A Face, as my old man was a college folkie. They (not sure which one) later bought Abbey Road and Hey Jude....which to me shows that they liked the folkie/melodic side of the group over the 'rock n roll' side. They were apparently completely unaware of Yesterday & Today and Revolver, as I found out years later when I played those tracks to them. They knew the singles but none of the album tracks.
