I love QUEEN. Great band it was.
What they did in the 70s was the finest statement of rock music . That was perfect.

The 80s stuff... ok, not bad , but I don't like it too much

My daughter likes Queen. She gets 18 next year and never listened to classuc rock, but she bought Queen albums.

My favourite album ever will be:

It is so perfect. Every single song a killer. The combination of those 13 songs on the album is absolutely perfect.

I had a close friend I will never forget.
He was the greatest Queen fan on earth. He did all for the band. He loved Freddy, his greatest wish was to spend a night with him.
He drove 100s of kilometers , even he had to go to work next morning to get a special copy of one of their records.

He payed much money for an autogram from Freddy.
He saw her very last concert. When Freddy died, he was extremely sad for months. It made him depressed for one or two years.

Since 2015, he and Freddy may be reunited in heaven.
In October 2015 he died with cancer, only 50 years old.
    I remember him very often.

But now- let's listen to more Queen:

    https://youtu.be/ZSUWOgQdX5A
The first album. Much underrated work till today.

    https://youtu.be/2Wx3zyZJDWM
    Queen II

The most not-commercial album for me.
More difficult to listen to than to any other queen album.

Queen live at earl's court 1977 full concert video.
Freddy at his best. I bow to his performance.

I wrote "70s" Queen...But we can also discuss of the band in the 80s and the solo works of the band members.

And about the ZombieBand, that may be on stage up til today called "Queen", but with any spirit of the real Queen .

II is my favorite but Opera is probably the masterpiece. My first Queen was News bought new when it came out.
My Mom banned it from the House for the song Get Down Make Love.

The break came with this terrible Hot Space album.
With this album they lost their spirit .

JAZZ was very commercial but had nevertheless the " right" Queen- feeling.

    And much humor in it.

Sheer Heart Attack has always been my favourite Queen album as well. In fact, my favourite album bar none.

This three track melody is excellent...

I find Hot Space to be a weaker Queen album, though I don't dislike it.

I think The Works was a solid return to form. One of their better albums too. But this thread is about 70s Queen, so I'll not post 80s tracks.

No, I wrote in #1, it`s about the 70s Queen but the thread also can be open for a discussion of the late Queen.

This is PRE-Queen. Performing as smile..

Not their greatest work, but it has still a special feeling.

Early Freddy as "Larry Lurex" with the Goffin/King compositin "Going back".

If my deceased friend hadn`t told me about many years ago, I would have never known "Larry Lurex".

Right now I am listening to the podcast "Queenpod". They go through every album side. Sheer Heart Attack is even a two-part episode for side A. I am not a massive fan but I enjoy this detailed introduction beside listening to those albums.

Fitter Stoke You don't suspect my life's a mess...

Queen were a supreme hard rock band on their first three albums. The rot for me started to set in on ‘A Night At The Opera’ which, while still a fine album, saw them start to stretch more into areas alien to their rock roots. This ultimately led to abominations like ‘A Kind Of Magic’ and ‘The Works’ by which time they’d become a pop group with only very occasional nods to hard rock. They had something of a rockier Indian summer with ‘Innuendo’ but I’d long since lost interest by then.

I prefer to remember Queen by ‘Queen’, ‘Queen II’ and ‘Sheer Heart Attack’. I don’t blame them for selling out after that, but I prefer not to listen to how they did so, a few choice 45s notwithstanding.

I thought this would've made for a decent thread, but you've posted the usual unoriginal thread crap.

I think I'm done with this forum.

I was a huge fan in the 70's.
I would say Sheer Heart Attack is my fav album.
I did see them on the Jazz tour.
After that album is basically where I lost interest (so 70's Queen it is).

As others have said.....Sheer Heart Attack was my favorite, but I enjoyed their albums up through The Game. I liked an occasional song by them after that, but lost interest with Flash Gordon and Hot Space. Never saw them live, and have been jealous of one of my friends who happened to see them in early 1975 (with Mahogany Rush and Kansas opening).

Even though Queen II is probably their best album tip to tail, my two favorites are News of the World and The Game, believe it or not. Perhaps it is nostalgia, but songs on those records have been with me since I was very young. I know that the "We Will Rock You/Champions" single was one of the first rock records I ever heard, and I had a copy of The Game when I turned 10. Used to buy their singles during those days, before I started collecting albums.....

Completely agree with every word of this post. That's how I feel about Queen as well. But it seems there are members here who take such opinions personal. Oh well...

  23. I went through middle school and high school listening to Queen. From Sheer Heart attack through The Game was the soundtrack of my youth. I’ve recently discovered their later hits and enjoy most of what I have heard.

I really don't understand why, when somebody says they prefer a different period by a band, that someone announces that they feel the need to announce they are heading for the nearest exit from the forum.

I really have never bonded with HOT SPACE or the FLASH soundtrack.
I'm not wrong - neither are the people who love those albums.
That doesn't mean there needs to be a mass exodus.
