I read that few weeks earlier somewhere on a Rolling Stone article (I also mentioned it on another thread before).
Would be cool if Apple gonna do something special with/for the White Album, Abbey Road and Let It Be. Actually looking forward to some rarities in a nice box set rather than remixes.

  2. There was no 5.1 in the Pepper set is there? And as with the outtakes I know they will be in the Abbey Road set, so that's a given. I was trying to figure out what they could do substantial with Abbey Road with it not needing a 2.0 re-mix

  3. Reached for comment the other day, Paul McCartney offered the following...

"I think it's a fine little album. It's great, it sold, it's the bloody Beatles - shut up. But it really is long overdue for a remix, you know..." ;)

Yep, if you bought the 6 disc version it includes a DVD and Blu Ray with 5.1 versions and at least the BR has Hi Rez of both stereo and 5.1 mixes. Have not checked out the DVD.

And the box set could contain two bonus CDs of the original mono mix, direct tape transfer, like the Sgt Pepper box.

    Thanks for the "likes"!
    Now let's get beyond...
    "Money, that's want I want... "

    On:

    K
    Ringo's downbeat for 'White' re-mix.
"The Beatles" being 'dry-as-a-bone' [not literally/just as the 1st soild state mastering/drier than previous recordings], let's make the "Money Grab", umm effort, worth it!
8 tracks to work w/! Take advantage!!
Stems all captured at 24/196 though valves.
Would suggest valve to tape transfers; just years ago heard on SHMF that studio tape was becoming unavailable.
1996 'Anthologies' gave us DRD rating avg high of #13 w/one track achieving #16.

    Dynamic Range Database Haters:
No "vinyls" were used in this evaluation!

2017 digital "SgtPLHCB" DRD rated an avg bout #8 1/2. W/a high of #12 for tracks from the album & a low of #6 for "Being For The Benefit of Mr. Kite!".

    "The Beatles" [digital DRD ratings]:
    09/09/09 #11 mono #10 stereo
    1987-1992-1998 #11

W/o 'bouncing' we, "Beatlemanics", should get better dynamic range than ever before, before giving more $$$!!!

Based on the mono WA tracks that appeared on the US Rarities LP (especially Helter Skelter), I was totally stoked to hear the full album when it was released as part of the mono CD box in 2009. But with a few exceptions, disappointed would be an understatement. For the most part, the mono versions sound like the first pass at a mix. Prefer the stereo for this album.

as I mentioned in another speculative White Album thread... I'm ok with alternate versions up to a point... but if they colourize it, I'm out!

He's been busy re-recording his own songs. I don't see this as a long shot.

Anybody else remember when danger mouse(producer of gnarls Barkley, Nora Jones black keys) tried to remix and mash up the white album and Jay-Z’s Black album to make the gray album and how bad that one was. Leave stuff alone

What I would really want are the 2 discs of Esher demos and outtakes that will inevitably be in this set. I am good with the original stereo mix I own.

Any chance there will be a package with just these discs available?

It seems very transparent that we're lined up to get the White Album next year and Abbey Road the following year. Then we'll have the three major albums from their "studio years" remixed and reissued for their 50th anniversaries. A deluxe Let It Be for 2020 also seems highly likely, with remixes and a remastered movie.

In contrast to the Pepper release, the real draw for me with the White Album would be the outtakes and demos. But if Giles sticks fairly close to the already solid 1968 stereo mix of the album, just making a few tweaks here and there (hello, I'd like to hear "Long, Long, Long" at a normal volume) then it could be worth a listen.

To be honest I think the tracks that need stereo remixing the most are the single "Hey Jude" and "Revolution"

I feel they should officially make the name "The White Album." Everyone calls it that anyway.

Steve Hoffman's mastering wouldn't change what the White Album is. It would reveal it.

What Beatles album do you feel is most in need of remastering?

What would you do to make it better?

    WHITE ALBUM.

Treat each SONG as a different mastering challenge.

In John's interviews from 68-70, he refers to it as "The Double Album."

Ringo would vote for calling LP1 - The White Album, and LP2 - The Whiter Album.

Paul of course calls it "The Beatles Bloody White Album" :D

How long before they separate the verses of Happiness Is A Warm Gun and rap in between them?
