Legend. Genius. Groundbreaking. Words sometimes overused but seldom as deserved. Robert Frank was a true visionary, capturing the real post-war America with searing wit, sensitivity and artistry.

His book "The Americans" has influenced pretty much every serious student of photojournalism since it was published, and rock fans knew him from the mysterious and weird images on the Rolling Stones' "Exile on Main St."

This obit in the NYT gives great insight into Frank and his legacy.

One of my favourites. He's had a long and prosperous life and he will be remembered by many generations to come.

I'm glad Lee Friedlander is still with us.

What will his death mean for CS Blues now?

He was allowed to show the movie when he was in attendance. I wonder if that would work with his ashes?

I used to this that CS Blues not being officially released was a crime until I saw a bootleg copy. It’s pretty dull to be honest.

Having said that, “The Americans” was Art with a capital “A”.
