Great singer, great organist, by all accounts a lovely gent. Apparently been dealing with cancer for some time.

News confirmed by a friend with many connections in Todd world.

RIP Robert Antoni. He co-wrote one of the songs on Nazz' debut LP ("Crowded").

RIP. I'll spin some Nazz today. The catalog is small enough that I may just play all three albums.

I remember seeing him in a bar I used to frequent in the late 1970's. He was playing acoustic with another Philly dude -- I think they were singing the other fellows' songs.
I did not see Sickman of Europe play live (later to morph into Cheap Trick without him), but I heard they were great.
Maybe around 2000 , he put together a version of Nazz, with another Philly musician that has since passed -- missed seeing it, but I heard they were good as well.
    RIP.

Such a great voice, especially on the ballads like "Hello It's Me." RIP, Stewkey. :sigh:

he was a great singer and a great performer. I saw his band (in tiny bars) doing Nazz songs several times around the turn of the millennium.

That's really sad news; such a terrific voice, and Todd sure seemed to copy his style a lot in the old days (can't say I blame him). RIP, Stewkey.

I always thought their original version sounded like melted butter with a little sugar on top.

Stewkey was a very nice man and I was glad to talk to him back in June over the phone and get some autographs from him. I was very sad to hear of his passing, and I'm glad his music has touched so many.

There is a Youtube of Thom Mooney and Stewkey discussing the oranges of Nazz. Stewkey seems like the guy you'd most want to have a beer with. I briefly met Carson outside The Troubador, a nice guy, but he was so far gone from music it was weird. "You wouldn't join a Nazz reunion?" I asked. "I'm done with music; I'm into animation, no interest in playing music". I didn't know he was gone too!!.
