First Klaus, now Vangelis?! The universe has just been spewing nuthin but chaos since Bowie died... I will say, of all the Electronic & New Age music I often thrust upon my wife in this household, she actually (luckily) loves Vangelis and the albums he did w/ Anderson... Not much else besides the odd TD or Kraftwerk album. Stands for somethin'... RIP King
Requiescat in pace to one of the most influential musicians ever — whether you played keyboards or were just a fan, Vangelis left his mark. He created lavish works in so many fields: progressive rock, electronic, film score, classical and even new wave. Vangelis' loss will be forever felt. This is truly a day to mourn.
RIP. I first heard Vangelis as the soundtrack provider for Carl Sagan's "Cosmos" in the early 80s and it entranced me to the point that my most vivid memory of the show is the episode closing animation of a galaxy above a beach while "Heaven and Hell" played. Doesn't seem to be on YT.
I'm probably one of the few who never really cared for Vangelis' bombastic soundtracks and the rock stuff, but man oh man, did I ever love his softer side, where his brilliant touches added so much to already beautiful songs, like this one ...
When I was 14 my dad came one day with a CD called 'L'Apocalypse Des Animaux' by Vangelis It changed my life RIP Vangelis
Jack Lowden, Vangelis, and James McArdle watch the Olympic Torch Relay from the Gielgud Theatre, July 2012.
First KS and now Vangelis. Greats in electronic sound. They say these things come in threes. Let's hope that won't be the case this time. Regards, Dave
