I don't know much about the Stones live besides Yas Yas, so can't figure how this one stands for big fans but i really enjoyed the whole thing. The crazy rock n roll athmosophere of Yas Yas is great but this one's calmer and focused approach works very well too... Very good performance. Great sound too.

All true, and I love the Yardbirds, but the Stones cut is similarly early and I think also a demo or not much more, but it has got a drive that's undeniable to me.

I know what you mean. I was just saying that when they recorded that song The Yardbirds weren't really that good, yet. Recorded just a few months later in 1964 it probably wouldn't have been the same. Check the two studio recordings of "I Wish You Would" made in 1964, the single version recorded just a bit later is much punchier (and better), it's not the same band anymore. And it was a matter of weeks/months, i guess the live shows helped them a lot.

I'm listening to the Live Licks album and am really blown away!! I didn't think I'd ever like a Stones album more than Get Your Ya Ya's Out...but this one is really kicking my ass.

The Stones sound great on this one. It is really good. Keith looks awful though. His teeth are about to rot out, and he looks like he is about to got the way of Brian. He plays well, though and has great presence as usual. He did, of course, leave his car running in the street and later, passed out while tuning his guitar pre-maturely ending the performance. Rock and roll, baby!!

    I think #10 is Bill.

#5 is that Mick Jagger guy.

  17. When you're in the mood for ' Beggar's Banquet ' only ' Beggar's Banquet ' will do.

  18. Fifteen years and counting since an album of original material from these guys . Fifteen years !
From 1965-1979 was a fifteen year period.

Agreed. I know their billionaires and albums don't make much money but come on. The Stones discography is a cash cow for the guys but 15 years what a waste. In that time at least put out 3 albums of new material.

I just purchased the Hi-Res version of Goat's Head Soup. I'd do my normal screenshot but I've got Covid. All I want to do is sleep.

    Live album by
    The Rolling Stones

    Description:

From The Vault is a new series of live concerts from The Rolling Stones archive, which are getting their first official release. Hampton Coliseum Live In 1981 is the first title in this series. The Rolling Stones American Tour in 1981 was the most successful tour of that year, taking a then record $50 million dollars in ticket sales. The tour was in support of the critically and commercially successful 'Tattoo You' album. There were fifty dates on the tour, which ran from Philadelphia at the end of September through to Hampton, Virginia on the 18th and 19th of December. The show on December 18th, which was also Keith Richards' birthday, was the first ever music concert to be broadcast on television as a pay-per-view event. The footage has now been carefully restored and the sound has been newly mixed by Bob Clearmountain for this first official release of the show.

Watched the 1998 European Tour Live Release, Bridges To Bremen over the weekend. The performance is pretty on and tight. The bonus extras from 1997 Chicago Soldier Field are pretty good too. I particularly liked the performances of "Rock And A Hard Place" and "All About You" of the bonus songs.
