Matt Clifford is credited with programming on the final album, so some could be his loops; many of the songs started as demo recordings made on St. Vincent in the Caribbean, with just Mick and Keith in the late summer of '04, when either one of them may have jumped behind the drums. There's a brief incomplete demo from those sessions included on the special edition DVD, and it has drums on it. We know several of those early guitar and vocal performances made the cut and survived into the final sessions, so a few Glimmer Twins drum takes may have, too. Roughly a half-dozen songs from the album don't feature Ron Wood at all. It was a weird, experimental process for them, but I have to say the album has a 'vibe' as a result
According to Mick Jagger this new album will be great. He mentioned in an interview that one of the reasons this album has been so long in the making is that he wanted it to be great, not just good. And if he was lying there is always Exile and Sticky and........
I'm excited for a new Stones album. Hopefully the CD will sound good. If not we might have to find Mickboy.
Yeah I've never heard anything on ABB that made me think "this isn't Charlie" but it certainly is possible, likely even, that some bits have looped or flown in Charlie drums from demos or elsewhere in lieu of him actually playing a full take live. Which, I mean, almost every modern album probably has that done somewhere.
Yeah, and later the single remix of "Doom and Gloom" took sample replacement to another level. I think it sounds very good, mind you, but it's not 100% Charlie
We might find momentary respite, what with all the discussion re: the 'announcement of new Stones lp' rumour.
Like anyone can tell for sure. I have to say as an admirer not an uberfan I hope a new record is all Charlie on drums. No diss to Steve Jordan, a superb player. But it’s their last ‘studio’ album, surely. And maybe one more tour, but ffs. Don’t die on stage, guys. And don’t die in Squatney. It’s not a big college town
A Better Bang! 1. Rough Justice 2. It Won't Take Long 3. Under The Radar 4. Back Of My Hand 5. Rain Fall Down 6. Oh No, Not You Again 7. Laugh, I Nearly Died 8. Infamy 9. Don't Wanna Go Home I can only get to 9 songs, and thats including the two non-album songs which are better than many on the album!
Admittedly, it says "remix" right in the track name there. One of my favorite drummers of all time, but what made him great was his feel, not really his complex parts unique to certain songs. So it wouldn't surprise me at all to see some bits flown in, as it were, even from other sources...obviously not from well-known, released songs where it'd be obvious, but from whatever is in the vault. Charlie playing "Rough Justice" and Charlie playing "Flip The Switch" aren't all that different aside from the tempo, y'know? I absolutely don't think they'd put Jordan in where they have a Charlie track to use. But if they don't, I'd rather they use Steve than just leave the song unfinished. These kind of situations are awful, but you do the best you can with the resources available.
Rough Justice It won't take long Streets of love She saw me coming Biggest mistake Oh no, not you again Laugh, I nearly died Sweet Neocon Look what the cat dragged in Infamy
