The folks over at IORR and the Shidoobee Stones fan forums are abuzz with leaked/unconfirmed news of the Rolling Stones' "Sticky Fingers" being planned for a deluxe edition ala Exile and Some Girls to be released this December. Also, the Stones may be going into the studio for some rewrites of material for bonus tracks.
The really big news is that the legendary <and widely booted> 1971 Marquee show that was filmed and televised on European television will be on the dvd. Now THAT"S got me excited - I'd love a cleaned up version of that with good stereo sound!

We already have a Deluxe version of this album: the SHM-SACD. I don't think you will get that kind of luxury sound on the CD/DVD.

The Marquee Club isn't exactly their best performance but since it has never been available before and is a rare recording I'd be happy to have it.

Again with the rewrites for the bonus material...

And no Leeds? This is such a great album; if this reissue is real, I hope they don't screw it up.

Interesting in that Exile uses tracks from sessions for both Exile and Sticky Fingers. You can tell this by looking thru the Exile LP and check out the publishing for each song, some are owned by ABKO (Allen Klein) and some by their own company. I guess the Stones already picked what unused songs from SF would have theoretically belonged with Exile since the EOMS deluxe edition has already been released. I think I already posted a similar reply on an older EOMS thread. IIRC part of the deal with ABKO was they got the publishing from SF so the band could start Rolling Stones records ASAP (their contract had not yet expired yet).

I know all bow before "Exile ...", as do I, but I actually prefer "Sticky Fingers" and am looking forward to this.
"Can't You Hear Me Knocking" does strange wonderful things to my brain.
I find myself listening to the Mickboy remaster with those fun bonus tracks.

Wonder if this is why we haven't seen a vinyl reissue in the last few years.

Never gonna happen with Mick overseeing these though, as per the last two DE's.

I'm stoked but the mastering on the deluxe will be crap if it's Marcussen.

While they'd be of interest to the hardest core of hardcore collectors, I don't think most fans are interested in unfinished tracks, especially without lyrics.

    Agree, Steven "the masher" Marcussen.
What was done to the "Exile" reissue was a disgrace. The thing was just plain crap. Unlistenable.
The LP was compressed crap and the CD was likewise compressed crap.

Get Bob Ludwig to do it. Anyone with good taste.

There are certainly instances where the outtakes have existing vocals and instrumentation that can stand on their own without modern-day overdubs and re-recording.

I await this and will buy it in (probably) all its forms. However, it will not, IMHO, be a truly deluxe edition unless we get all relevant UK & US mono singles and/or alternate mixes as well as the U.S. mono promo version of the LP.

I've never ever bowed before Exile and never will. The album goes on for too long. I'd welcome a Deluxe edition of Sticky Fingers if the bonus material is worthy.
