good idea. also the live "when the whip comes down" or "dance pt 2" from sucking in the 70's i would have added too
Odd logic there. If our neighbors never heard "Love You Live" or "Sucking In The 70's" why would they be interested in "Rarities"? You pretty much have to be fans like us to even know about it.
Rarities was, Lest We Forget, sold for a time exclusively at Starbucks. In case anyone wonders about what type of fan it was aimed at...
That's a valid point. The problem with Rarities was they tried to appeal to both camps and that can't be done successfully. Most people do not go collecting b-sides. I didn't back then, so Rarities was rare enough to me.
Well, there you go. That was my point and I had forgotten about that. But my logic that the audience this was intended for weren't super fans is "odd", I suppose, for a CD that was sold at Starbucks.
Checking on the press release I see it was not an exclusive; but was released direct to Starbucks as well as traditional record retailers. I had it confused with Four Flicks which certain big box stores had the exclusive on, for a time Nevertheless...
Here in Canada a major record chain boycotted selling the Stones' albums entirely, in protest. Don't remember if they succeeded in breaking the embargo! But used copies of FF eventually were to be found everywhere...
At that time, yes. I remember walking into Best Buy and they literally had stacks and stacks of those DVDs. It was a huge seller, too!
Don’t know why any Stones fan would not be happy to have Rarities…of course we all would’ve preferred a 6CD box set (which was rumored around ‘02). Just getting “Through the Lonely Nights” on CD was huge. Wish they would’ve included “Think I’m Going Mad”, but finally got that on CD years later in the mammoth singles box.
But it wasn't officially released and still isn't. Rarities was all material which was already officially released.
I read somewhere they couldn't find the master for Think I'm Going Mad when they compiled it so they left it off. Another reason it was an ok release but could have been much better. If I recall correctly, I already had Let It Rock and Through The Lonely Nights on bootlegs by the time I bought Rarities.
Of course! Jaggers a business man, but he also has a genuine affection for the fans. Unfortunately he doesn’t have affection for his AUDIOPHILE fans! The Masher keeps on mashing. That’s why I’m only buying the vinyl boxes and not the cd boxes. Beave
That's not the original 12'' mix on Rarities. In 2002, Miss You was remixed and included on the Don't Stop CD single. This new mix was the same length as the old 12 inch, but was not identical. Rarities includes this mix, but edited.
Anyways, back to TY. I also thought I saw the cover was going to be released on Friday. Guess that was premature. I have not seen it on Tidal, at least.
I think we may see it later this week to coincide with press coverage of the tour proper, which starts tonight in St. Louis and continues Thursday in Charlotte
They've had the full tracklist up for some time, as they have the upcoming Joni Mitchell box. But most track titles are darkened and cannot be streamed at this time, including the Chi-Lites cover. NP: "Through the Past" 2002 DSD
