Just joined up today, so Rookie here but Veteran of others... I've been a member of a couple other forums (AK, AG, AA) for 15 yrs and use the same user name there also. It's not an effort to stay private but a nickname I have had since high school/college and like to use it when I'm a member of a group I like.

I'm a music lover first and foremost, equipment only matters if it brings more joy to the listening experience.

I have a few systems, modern and vintage. I tend to like tubes the most but have a few ss amps that give me pleasure also.

Brief is up. I know it takes a few posts before the Mods approve and they start showing up. I have checked out this forum many times before and think it's one of the best. Just been waiting for the right time to join.

    Happy listening.

Hi onemug. I'm sure you got this already, but...there's a lot to catch up on here - on any musical or electronic subject you can think of. Don't be torqued if somebody tells you, "Search is your friend", because, you really have a lot of research ahead of you, two-thirds of it is irrelevant, and no, there is no way you're going to catch up with it. Just...start.

The moderators are strict about avoiding various topics that tend to make members unnecessarily testy; civility is key here, because Our Host is more focused than most on us discussing the things we can solve and have mutual interest in, rather than the things that divide us (unlike other online communities, polarizing topics doesn't make the extra conversation any more productive, so we're reminded to steer clear). These mods ("Gorts") are pretty good, but they're serious about this, and they're all volunteers, which should give you some idea of how serious they are about the harmony.

And...don't forget to get up and walk around every couple of days...it's good for your circulation, and eventually your vision will clear up a bit!

Thanks for the tips. The strictness is just one of the reasons I decided to 'officially' join up. I've visited here many, many times before in the past. I like Steve's rules here and keeping it Ad free. Seems AK is having another issue with someone hacking into it (causing redirects) so I'm going to spend my forum time here. It's nice to be able to contribute now that I've joined.
