Those Goodnight Vienna photos are great!

I can't find them on the net but there are some amazing photos of the Doors recording their first album at Sunset Sound in the fall of '66. Jim Morrison is drinking milk out the carton in the photos

Yep and that EMI logo on the board is splendid!

  4. I always loved the picture of John Coltrane with his wife Alice in the background, listening to the playback of the recording of "A Love Supreme" (IIRC, I could be wrong though).

Coleman Hawkins, Eric Dolphy and Thelonious Monk in the studio! What a team!

(Monk must have just been visiting; dunno of any recordings featuring him with Dolphy, let alone with Dolphy AND Bean)

Van Halen at Sunset Sound in 1979 recording Van Halen II. Notice Dave's busted foot, which he hurt while doing jumps off a drum riser for the pictures on the back of the album.

    Another early Dylan studio classic!

Bob, Victoria Spivey, Len Kunstadt and Big Joe Williams in what appears to be Spivey's studio...

Arguably apocryphal, but here's a lovely pic on a tape box I found at a Salvation Army thrift shop last year:

CP MacGregor, Radio Recorders, Capitol Melrose, Capitol Tower (to present). John Palladino came from Radio Recorders. He was one of the first people hired by Capitol when they bought Melrose in (off the top of my head) 1949. John Kraus was hired then too - John P. thinks it was with a day or so of him.

That is Tony Visconti lurking on the left.

Would that be Olympic Studio B that Visconti described in his book?
