The instrumental Interlude 1 is stunning...as I get into this amazing LP. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hRgQj1VXek4&list=PLw4bxj1LLMQaPizvlm2by1hlvwInrzkVq&index=4
This is the only release I own and it is one of the best "audiophile" bargains I have . $20 vinyl that is sonically amazing.
How did you get that so quick? Download? Bandcamp? This thread just started today! Yes, everyone send Sarah money chocolate and roses, she is a treasure.
@Icewater_7 Being a picker yourself and fan thereof...Sarah is likely right up your alley... 1,000 Things
I downloaded her Blue Heron from Bandcamp, sounds excellent. No shame in downloading. I hit my physical media ceiling recently (literally, my hoard is piled to the ceiling) so I am out of room, no more CDs or vinyl unless I have no other choice. Nothing against streaming, but if I love an artist I buy the download to make sure they get some actual money.
The closest artist that I have heard in 50 years that can compare to Pentangle, that fuses folk, jazz, rock, and country... brilliantly! And like Danny Thompson, her uptight baas player is no slouch either. Across The Canyon
"Ring Them Bells" was the first Jarosz song I added to my own internet radio station, in the holiday music rotation. Her cover of Massive Attack's "Teardrop" with Chris Thiele on Live From Here, is my favorite example to post in interesting cover song threads.
It must have been Sierra Hull I saw as she was playing mandolin. I thought mandolin was Sarah's main instrument but see from the videos in the thread that she plays a lot of guitar.
I only know World on the Ground and I really enjoy it. I keep forgetting to seek out other stuff but this thread is a useful prompt, so thank you
This from Sarah's 202 release World On The Ground This track has everything an artist should infuse into a song...everything. Hometown
They are both mandolin players, certainly sisters of form. Sarah Jarosz' main axe is an octave mandolin, looks just like a guitar, she plays guitar and banjo too. Zoom in , the string setup is mandolin, eight strings.
She opened with "Johnny" from "World On the Ground" when I saw her last April (2022), buckin' and kickin' out of the gate after the covid pause. Fantastic aggressive entrance, confident, perfect pop form, absolute dazzler: "Johnny" Sarah Jarosz (2020)
Just checked the tour page on her site, suspiciously quiet for a live warrior queen like her. It can only mean she is in the kitchen cooking up a tasty record for us!
Uptight? Hmm. He seems relaxed, yet alert and highly skilled. He does look a bit uptight though, but that could be something he ate, the music doesn't suffer for it.
It's really good to see a thread like this. There's some really good stuff of her on YouTube, solo and with others.
