The opener was so bad I thought maybe something had to be scrapped at the last minute and this was the best they could cook up. Bowen nailed his Update appearance of course but it would have hit harder without the clumsy open. Amy showing was great but these pointless mini cameos are gimmiks to get attention and don't help with the funny. Aubrey gave real pep to the game night and noir sketches. It sure makes a difference when the host is either a real actor or a comedy writer.
I actually think Bowen has improved a lot as a performer the past few years. I wasn't a fan of his last season due to his roles being quite onedimensional and focussing on some kind of flamboyancy. Both he and the writers steppes up their game though and it's wonderful to see him play more diverse parts.
I have never even cracked a smile at anything Bowen Yang has ever said or done on SNL. I just do not get him.
None of the videos you post are visible to me in Canada. Just curious, what do they contain? Are they clips from the most recent episode?
This week The Highs were very High (Che's Doorman , State Farm , the Bridal Party , The Towel Guys ) the average bits were not horrible
State Farm was great and the ending was perfect. I cracked up at the car sales canes chicken thing, never thought I’d hear Brenham Texas mentioned on SNL!
VERY solid episode with a VERY democratic use of almost ALL cast members. Guess Michael B. was a welcome, open and relaxing presence. I'm gonna guess he said "Yes!" to everything pitched to him. Only complaint was Adonis Creed @ The Update Desk. They needed one more rehearsal. Felt like it was written Saturday morning.
This crazy sketch was for me one of the best,Sarah and Michael were 100% into this and one of the few if not the only one not playing into Michael’s hunkiness.
