Some guy in Beijing china wanted to buy my Conrad Johnson PV4. The post office said that it is a restricted item under radio and transmitter parts and equipment. It even mentions tubes in the transmitter parts exclusion. My question is does this tube preamp fall under the exclusion or not. The buyer has awesome feedback and says he bought other preamps and says to declare it as an old tube phono stage.:help:

Sorry, Iguess this should go into Marketplace Discussions.

Can you take it to a different post office? Their rules can be so complicated, and so open to interpretation, another postal employee might give you an entirely different read. It sounds as if your buyer knows what he's talking about.

BTW, how does a preamp count as a radio transmitter if it doesn't transmit any radio signal?

Thank for the reply. I can ship the preamp but the PO said it would probably be confiscated by Chinese customs.
