Should The Beatles' A Hard Day's Night Be Colorized for a New Generation To Enjoy?

Regardless of whether the youngest generation would be interested in seeing a 55 year old colorized movie, there are plenty of us older folks that would be interested in seeing the movie in color. With people buying remixed versions of Beatles albums, I am sure there would also be a market for people to go back and buy a color version of A Hard Days Night even if they currently own a B&W version of the movie.

I would also like to see the audio improved upon over the fake 5.1 channel (mono) on the Blu-ray Disc. I own several versions of the movie, and in many ways the Criterion CAV laser disc is the best. It has true stereo mixes of the songs and features the song “I’ll Cry Instead” as the lead in at the beginning of the movie. Pairing a CAV laser disc with a high end laser disc player gives you the ability to type in a frame number in a movie and go there instantly instead of relying upon chapters or time. You can set up loops to repeat songs or scenes using this ability. Unfortunately even blu-ray players don’t have the ability to access any individual frame of a movie instantly.

I would like to think studios learned their lesson when they started colorizing classics like "The Big Sleep" & "Its A Woderful Life" etc...

B&W adds to the charm & historical impact of the film so my response is a vehement NO!

It’d be nifty to see it in color. If it was done really well, why not? It would never be better than the original because in my mind, the world was in black and white in ‘64.

You joke, but there were serious plans for Robert Zemeckis to make a new "Yellow Submarine" movie about a decade ago!

Sure, couldn't wait for the super emotive Pixar-face version of Paul and the gang.

Would he have done that in the weird animation style he was using in the 2000s?

Was it like the rotoscoping in "A Scanner Darkly"?

Probably. No clue why Zemeckis thought that stuff looked good!

Yeah, similar technique, though "Tintin" offered better animation than "Polar Express".

I still liked "Tintin" despite the creepy animation, but it would've been better with a more traditional style of photography...
