No, just because worse bands have gotten in doesn’t mean they should. Let’s raise the bar, not lower it.

Without a doubt. They stand on their own merit, however, if you compare their talent and accomplishment with some of the acts already in the Hall than the answer is WITHOUT A DOUBT :).

5 per year get in. I don't ever foresee a year where they are 1 of the 5 most deserving. If they change induction process, I might change my mind. For now, not a chance.

They absolutely should be! Not sure how popular they were outside of the US and Canada however.

Don't care how popular you think they were, or weren't, outside one's own back yard or wherever...the purpose of the Hall should be to recognize acts like theirs, not leave ignorant rock fans in theor own little ostrich holes. They should be in if, for no other reasons, Randy Bachman and Kurt Winter, and Garry Peterson's amazing technical prowess and focus. Cummings, spinning himself off into a relative "lounge" act doesn't exactly build up his cred...but then there's that electrifying use of his voice before he changed gears, that should be enogh to shine a big freaking light on him anyway.

Oh, and name another band that put a whole damn COUNTRY onto the pop/rock music map, seemingly all by themselves (hesitate to say, but I feel Neil Young didn't achieve that feat until he stepped onto American soil).

Ya know who doesn't belong in the Hall? The guy whose thumb on the scale had kept so many deverving artists out of the Hall (hi, Jann! )...that sort of behavior is not the spirit of "Rock", "Rawk", "Rock n' Roll", or any tangent therof.

Jebus, man, who's left in this top tier you allude to? I'd say the bar-raising train left the depot in about 2001

Yes, they are the definition of Rock and Roll. Bonus is success and writing their own songs.

Why even discuss it? After 10 or 15 years EVERY band will be in the Hall of Fame.

Yes.The single Share the Land is a great 45&the American Woman LP should be enough but Jann Wenner is a pompous a__ who thinks HE is the GOD of R&R.
Note:J.Giels Band should have been inducted also.

Some of us non-North Americans will know American Woman, but very few will know anything beyond that. They are a mere footnote, but that's never stopped obscure US-centric bands getting in before, so yeah, let 'em in!

Some will never make it into the Hall of Fame for one reason or another. And those are usually the ones who deserve it the most.
