Do you know what the difference is, like a remix or edit? Also, would you know if it's available on any particular CD's?

Yes I remember it now. It went by different names called Napster, Kazaa and Limewire at different times, right? It recently morphed into bit torrent. Something about this P2P nonsense if I remember being illegal.

Hmm, all this time I thought the album and single versions were the same, but I looked and it seems the album version is about 10 seconds longer.

And even the 12" version is less than a minute longer than both versions.

By the way, I know we've talked about The Doors' "Light My Fire" before, and I'm curious to see if this new Singles set of theirs coming out in September will have the song without the issues it had in the digital download of the original 45. Guess we'll see.

So it appears that the promo 45 has the same versions that are on the 12" single: 5:27 and 4:24. Seems to me that 's kind of unusual.

There are very subtle mix differences. It's available on this cd:

Yeah, but you'd best not talk about it here. It's against the rules.

She has a boxed set coming out in the fall - perhaps it will contain single mixes? I haven't seen a track list yet.

More single edits that elude me as far as CD sources are concerned:

    The Other Ones - "Holiday"
Wang Chung - "Don't Let Go"

Do you know if the single version of their song "Let's Go" is on CD anywhere?

I see the US 45 has a listed running time of 3:44. This CD has a version that basically runs the same time.

I found the mono version on the German soundtrack album "FC Venus":

Not aware of it being on any CD, no.
No, that is the album version; perhaps the edit was promo only?

Do you know what the running time on the edit is? The US promo 45 seems to have the same running time (3:44) as the commercial 45.

The version of The Other Ones- Holiday on Rock Of The 80's Vol. 14 matches my US 45. It's definitely not the album version.

The album version on The Other Ones - The Other Ones is a different mix, and a bit shorter (3:32).

Is there an actual 'version/remix' ? I have the US 7 inch and it's just an edit of the album version

I guess the fact that it's edited would qualify it as a separate "version" - I mean, you can't really say it's the same as the album version since the single is shorter and the album is longer. I don't remember the mix being any different.

Whew, just making sure. I thought maybe there was an oddball 7 inch remix floating around I missed

Ah, OK, good to know. I have the song from the CD of their album, so I'll have to hunt down a copy of this.

By the way, can you confirm the running time on the 7 inch? I'm asking because the 45 has a listed time of 3:49 and there's a video on YouTube claiming to be the Single Edit with a running time of about 4:10, I believe.

"Let's Go (edit)" on the US 12 inch is listed as 3:52 but actually runs 4:04.

Perhaps it's a case of a purposely wrong time (under four minutes) given to encourage radio play?

Edit: just listened to that one on YouTube. It's a different edit.

There's a few threads on the Pat Downey boards about this song. Mostly about how to recreate the 45 since it seems to still be unavailable on CD. The posters there were reporting run times of 4:03 - 4:07, so I'm not quite sure what to make of it.
