Melissa Auf der Maur would be cool but Billy didn't like her playing:

"Honestly, this is going to be a bit of a boring answer; I just like the way that it pockets into the music. I play guitar pretty much on top, and so the bass is better laconic. If the bass is too on top, like for example, Melissa Auf der Maur. When she played with us, she played very on top, and it was constantly tripping all over the ****ing guitars. It’s hard to get… the Pumpkins’ sound. If you can bottle it, it’s sort of predicated on the idea the guitars are clearly on top and ahead of the drums; the drums sit in the middle, and the bass is a little back, so it has an impact and wide-scope sound. That’s the sound that I like to hear. Maybe it was developed through playing with D’Arcy and the way she played. I got used to that feeling, and so I’ve looked for that feeling ever since. So, if I found a man who could play like that, I would have no problem putting him in there. Mark Tulin played like that."

So my guess is that Ginger Pooley is going to play bass.

  3. I'd love to go and see this semi reunion but Billy is such an obnoxious wanker that I don't know if I want to give him my money

    I wasn't sure :) ...I didn't mean any offense...
You're right, a tour without the original 4 simply isn't interesting to me.
Billy's appearances on certain talkshows that lean in a specific direction have further pushed me away from accepting any new music from him.
However, I'll always love the first 3 albums.
    What in the heck happened??

The bassist will most likely be Katie Cole who played on the "In Plainsong" tour in 2016

I would have thought they would get better offers from Promoters if it was the original 4. D'Arcy seems disappointed...I don't think the baselines are that difficult....Billy's made positive noises about them rekindling their friendship...I wonder what gives?

Still have fond memories of Brixton 1996 with the original 4 the night after they played Wembley Arena - an hour acoustic set (played in their pyjamas) followed by a blistering 90 minute electric set....

Really hope they'll listen A LOT of 1991 - 1996 material and find the inspiration to create that music again

I suspect d'arcy wanted to get paid handsomely on this tour.

Billy looked at her demands slept on it and thought "nah screw that" and decided to get someone else.

    imo...

Nice to see some planets come back into alignment--all's right in those pictures. Good news.

Disappointing to say the least.

To me, D'Arcy has been the real wild card in this reunion thus far because she's chosen to remain out of the public eye for so long and has had some real substance abuse problems. The others might have decided the prospect was too risky---for the band, for her, or both---to have her on tour. Reading some of her Facebook posts has left me unsure whether she is mentally tough enough to avoid another downward spiral precipitated by touring. I'm saying that as a concerned fan that hopes she would be able to do so in the future and perhaps just isn't there yet. We'll see. . .

All kidding aside, I really do hope this does well. Hope they conjure up some Siamese Dream mojo. That is if they're actually making a record:p

    ...yep...2007-2010.

"On April 6, 2007 rock rumor website Buddyhead reported that Ginger Reyes was the new bassist for The Smashing Pumpkins, replacing former bassists D'arcy Wretzky and Melissa Auf der Maur, in the new line-up.Reyes has taken part in three Smashing Pumpkins music videos: "Tarantula", "That's the Way (My Love Is)" and "G.L.O.W."In March 2010, Pooley left The Smashing Pumpkins to focus on her family"
