Holy God, how have I never seen this video before? My atoms are swirling about excitedly as the music and film nerd inside me geeks out. The video is very Yasujiro Ozu/Akira Kurosawa. Add in Paul Rodgers soulful blues pipes, Jimmy Page's six string goodness (on a Strat body, no less), and that thundering rhythm section of Chris Slade and Tony Franklin (I love his fretless bass tone. I'm a big Blue Murder fan). If Toshiro Mifune had made even a brief appearance, my head might have very well exploded. Thank you for this! I think I'm going to like it here.
Speaking of Blue Murder......this is still one of my all-time hard rock songs. I flipped out the first time I saw this on MTV (you know, back when they played videos). That debut album was the shiznit. John Sykes shredding on the Les Paul (and those pipes! Such a great singer), Tony's mean fretless bass, and Carmine Appice's thundering drums. After Rush, Blue Murder's perhaps my favorite power trio, a hair ahead of King's X and Triumph.
