Correct, to clear up, I'm looking for the "factory original" version that someone (a listener) has messed with by changing the speed, not one that was officially released that way.

"The Chipmunk Song (Christmas Time is Here)" by Alvin, Simon, Theodore and SATAN!

    Seriously, this one is hilarious.

Well, then this one should win the thread!

I discovered this a few years ago. Glad to see it's still on YouTube:

That's not merely slowed down. It sounds like it was made using that Stretch app that was popular about 10 years ago, which can not only stretch out the sound, but also apply other effects.

This went by almost unnoticed and it's one of the finest examples ever: here's the 33 rpm original:

I brought this into a standard audio program that can alter either pitch or tempo without one affecting the other.

I increased the speed by 100% about three times, and with the cumulative effect that got it back close to the tempo of the original.

It sounded like the original but with one exception — Ringo's heavy snare drum was very odd, almost as if it were backwards. Everything else seemed about the same as the original.

The thing that gives it away for me is the slight "lisp" on certain words... it's just as obvious in the slowed-down version as in the original.

("Lisp" is probably not the correct word to describe what I'm talking about, but Dolly definitely has a particular vocal affectation in the song).

This might be a little too slow, but I found this on YouTube, "Rick Astley" doing "The Loco-Motion":

I wonder if that's the Chipmunks original voices before being sped up?

Maybe it's just me but I'm hearing a bit of Carl Wilson (BB Holland era) in that vocal as well:edthumbs:

  21. This is great!! Reminds of of Joy Division at times, without all the god-awful vocal scooping of Ian Curtis (at least like he does on "Love Will Tear Us Apart").

Half seriously, I may listen to this entire thing sometime - it's a real hoot! Just looked up the track-listing, in the hopes the Chipmunks had actually covered "Love Will Tear Us Apart" - alas, no. Here's the CD sequencing (which is different from the LP - all the same tracks though).

TRACK TIMES AREN'T THE SAME in the YouTube upload, since it's all slowed down though. The YouTube upload suggests it's played at 16-RPM (i.e. half the speed of an LP at 33.33). So maybe double all the track-lengths, probably.

    4. "You May Be Right" (Billy Joel) – 4:03
    5. "Crazy Little Thing Called Love" (Freddie Mercury) – 2:47
    6. "My Sharona" (Berton Averre, Doug Fieger) – 4:03

The Winery Dogs - "The Other Side" from 3:52 to the end, the recorded drum track was slowed down because Richie Kotzen wanted it to have a more trudging feel:

I think so. They sound so banal singing about Christmas. Dave however sounds like an angered Beelzebub.

There's something wrong with it. It speeds up even on parts where no 'yeah' is coming.
It includes the parts "And you know that can't be bad / you should be glad", obviously the creator of this video misheard 'bad' and 'glad' as 'yeah's.^^

One of my favorites is The Monkees - I'm Not Your Stepping Stone 45 slowed down to 33. I can't find an example on YT so it must be a weird thing me and my friends discovered. Druggy, wicked, and intense.
