    And then there's...

Does anybody here remember Vera Lynn? Remember how she told us we would meet again some sunny day. Vera, Vera, what has become of you?

How could Y'all have forgotten that one?

Of course, the "Satisfaction" riff itself seems to have been lifted from Martha and the Vandella's "Nowhere to Run", Keith's motel dream story notwithstanding.

You could make a case for Bryan Adams' "Summer of '69" ("standing on your mama's porch") referencing Bruce Springsteen's "Thunder road" (Like a visions she dances on the porch as the radio plays").

Being a big Bruce fan, I've liked the "Summer of '69" a lot more ever since I heard that line in it!:)

I like how Keef throws in the "Satisfaction" riff on their collaboration with the Chieftains on "Rocky Road to Dublin" off the "Long Black Veil" album.

The Stones also recycled the "Satisfaction" riff at the end of the piano intro to "Flight 505". Who was that, Stu? Jack Nitzche?

Mary Chapin Carpenter wrote, and Wynonna Judd made into a hit, a wonderful song called "Girls with Guitars." It uses several small excerpts of familiar guitar riffs, including "Sunshine of Your Love" and "Smoke on the Water" plus one more I can't remember, and the last line of the song is a twist on Mark Knopfler: "Get your money for nothin' and your GUYS for free."

The Neil Young song "What You're Looking For" from his upcoming album references Bob Dylan's "Like A Rolling Stone".

"You’re invisible, you’ve got too many secrets
    Bob Dylan said that
    Or something like that"

Not sure what Mick and Keith get but Allen Klein gets plenty! He sued Richard Ashcroft's publishers and won. According to MOJO--Bittersweet Symphony is now owned by Klein. To his credit, Ashcroft does not sound too bitter(sweet) about it.

    Not so young any more.

It IS cool, isn't it? I always thought this was a brilliant moment. The difference in tone and tempo, and above all the quiet "oooh, oooh" that Young appends to the hook, speaks volumes about the difference and the distance between a young man's horniness and a middle-aged man's--and a marriage's!--more complex needs.

One more obvious and almost forgotten one:

"Bye Bye Johnny" by Chuck Berry- the sequel to Johnny B. Goode's story:

"Bye bye Johnny/Goodbye Johnny B. Goode"

In turn "Bye Bye Johnny" was quoted in Bruce Springsteen's "Johnny Bye Bye".
