  2. They sound Beatle-y, ("Getting Better") or like the Romantics ("What I Like About You").

Highly recommended to anyone on this board who isn't a non-rock person.

First that came to mind. I've won this CD on the radio a few years ago and it's really cool. :righton:

The theme song to the UK TV show The Prisoner comes to mind. Anyone ever heard an original RCA single of that ?

  11. From Jamaica -

Bongo Man - Bongo Man Byfield

    Bongo Cup - Bongo B

Thunder Storm Part 2 (Bongo Version) - Bongo Herman

Bongo I - Tommy McCook & Gladiators Band

Bongo Man - Count Ossie & The Mystic Revelation of Rastafari

    Natty Bongo - Owen Grey

Bongo Man - Rod Dennis Mento Band

The Bongo Man titles are not on the same rhythm. There are countless other Jamaican records that feature Bongo playing.

LOL I just thought of the Happy Days episode where Fonzie joins the boys' band and plays bongos.

LA Free Music Society avant-gardists Le Forte-Four had a track called "It's Raining Bongos" (which was literally a bunch of speeded up bongos and vocals proclaiming the same)

"Bongo Bong" from Manu Chao's 1998 album Clandestino

A song about the "King of the Bongo", but the actual bongo playing is left up to your imagination.

In 1947 there were about ten recordings of a song called "Civilization" that went:

Bongo bongo bongo I don't want to leave the Congo oh no no no no no
Bingle bangle bungle I'm so happy in the jungle I refuse to go

    I like Ray McKinley's version.

All of Chicago albums from 1973-1979 (from Chicago VI to Chicago 13) have songs with bongos and congas courtesy of Brazillian percussionist Laudir de Oliveira.
Laudir became a full time member of Chicago starting from 1974.

A few examples of their songs with congas include "Call On Me" and "Mongonucleosis" from 1974 album Chicago VII and "Old Days" from 1975 album Chicago VIII.

You can hear the sound of bongos in other Chicago VII tracks such as the acoustic ballad "Happy Man" and the instrumental "Aire"
