Well, the movies are modeled after those old movie serials from the 30's and 40's after all. :)

Not being familiar with the medium, it just reminds me of a pre-episode TV recap, only oddly out of order.

This however, is a good "Campbells' Cream of Star Wars". Just, oddly, one foot in the "good tribute", and the other in the, "just one more movie to go, why don't you wait for it before doing this?".

Topher Grace also made an 85-minute edit of the prequels several years ago, which is supposedly really good.

    Lucas should do the same.

Just to cast a contrary opinion, I think Topher Grace, the little ****, should try doing his own work for a change and not F up the work of other filmmakers. Trust me, it's not a great feeling to toil on doing a movie for years and years, and then have some idiot screw around with it in his basement. He should know better.

I totally get parody, and not only is that legally protected, I think it can be funny (and actually is kind of a compliment in many ways). But to screw around with the editing is a crappy thing to do. It'd be like adding an accordion to every Beatles track "because you can."

Star Wars: Always is about the dumbest title concept imaginable.

Did he actually elect to use something other than John Williams' score at the cliched beginning?

It's the same old thing with these edits. Fanboy gets butt hurt over some aspect of the films, claims he can do it better and never does.

I lasted about a minute through this abortion of time and taste until I had enough. It's terrible.

Well I think Lucas really opened the door for all this when he ruined the original trilogy with his stupid edits and changes. You can't have it both ways. I expect if he hadn't messed with them the way he did there would be no need for people to try and create a watchable version.

In you analogy its if McCartney withdrew all the original Beatles albums, remixed them and added in some new bits, and then made those versions the only ones you can buy. There would then be an avalanche of people making their versions.

    Episode one.

    Which inspired The Phantom Edit.

You notice that this edit avoids the prequels.

    Wisely...

This feels too generic and “modern” for my taste.
