ROCKS and TOYS IN THE ATTIC. I give the edge to ROCKS, the best hard rock album of the 70's.

I think it really works well on CD. It really is one of the better live albums of that era.

Have you heard ‘Rock In A Hard Place’? That’s an absolute gem imo, their best since ‘Rocks’.

Pump. No contest. And I've been listening to them since 1976.

The first four tracks are relentless. First time I heard it, it was like that guy in the Maxell ad.

Still think "Monkey On My Back" is one of their very best - frequently overlooked.

Then the early classics follow. Rocks, Toys, etc. all have great songs.

    Enjoy!

Rocks/Toys/Wings......must haves for any self respecting rock fan.......generally speaking,,
For the people who are mainly 70s fans I'd just say get everything through Ruts.....

After that, In my opinion the best are Pump and Music from another dimension......

Honorable mention Rock in a hard place.....pretty good music that could stand more guitar solos and to me Tyler sounds a lot like Daffy Duck...
He got the most out of his voice at the time.....

There's a lot to love and plenty to be sour on, depending where you sit...Mainly just listen to the music without pre formed opinions from critics.....Don't over think

From the Geffen years, I really like ‘Permanent Vacation’ and ‘Pump’, can’t stomach anything after that :shake:.

I'd stretch it out to Get a Grip (though I think its bloated) after that it gets really rough.

Agreed! Pump is a great album but seems "overlooked"* today as probably their finest post-reunion album and it's just chock-full of really tight songs. It's really the only album of the "song doctor" era of the band that I feel still sounds relevant.

*I say "overlooked" in quotes because it is a massive-selling album, but I think in general their post-reunion music isn't regarded very highly despite that massive commercial success.

When I was in my teens (many many moons ago) a friend taped me a copy of Live Bootleg… there was no saving me from there on in.
Next up for me was the then latest release… Night In The Ruts (a much underrated album) which I thought was excellent… and then eventually Done With Mirrors (another album that gets overlooked in my opinion)
I think I even bought A Rock In A Hard Place (yes I love this too) before I started with the back catalogue.
You will struggle to find better than Rocks or Toys… I wish I’d been there when they first came out as it must’ve been incredible hearing these masterpieces for the first time.
Their late 80s/90s output I’d go with Pump, Permanent Vacaction then Get A Grip (which has its moments but has plenty of filler.

Live Bootleg is where it all started for me !!

Rocks and Toys are both classic albums that any fan of rock music should own. I love having these in the car, turned up loud when the sun is shining and life is good.
    Great music.

I’ve only got Toys In The Attic and Rocks, and to be honest - it’s enough for me as a casual listener.

I think they’re both great, by the way!

I saw Aerosmith November 2nd, 1978 at the old Civic Arena in Pittsburgh. I can tell you it is exactly what they sounded like. The loudest concert I have ever been too. $8.50 a ticket.

Oh yea and it's Toys, Get Your Wings and Rocks. I'd rather listen to the self-titled and Draw The Line before pretty much anything afterwards.
