Incorrect stylus alignment is a common problem with modern cartridges. That includes priced at several thousand $. But you need to understand that with 9" pivoted arm you only have exact alignment in two points of LP. And worst offset error will naturally be more than you observed. Only owners of tangential tracking arms should be really worried.
Slant cantilever will make nicks on your record in lead inn grooves. Is that what you want on your expensive vinyl? I think no. If you align a cartridge according to a cantilever, the mass of a cartridge will make its own forces and also problems can occur. I had similar problem on AT-VM95 two times, the first cartridge I threw away, the second one was sold to a seller of vintage turntables. Because even with a new stylus, the cantilever became slant when you put a stylus on a cart.
