Yes, i think without Sgt Peppers the internet would not have been invented and this thread wouldn't exist

It’s great to hear how you acknowledge the importance of Sgt Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band ! This thread, too.

It is VERY important to still discuss a band in minute detail that haven't released anything new since 1970

That's an interesting and logical way to proceed with this challenge. I'm sure many of the songs that appeared on the subsequent Beatles albums would have been recorded as solo releases. However, "A Day in the Life" would never have happened. "I've Got a Feeling" and "It's Getting Better" wouldn't have had their fun Lennon retorts. Harrison may have had no reason to write "Wah Wah". "Oh Blah Di" wouldn't have it's dramatic piano intro. The music been would been much the lesser, IMHO.

They would not be revered the way they are now. They would be thought of more along the lines of The Beach boys or The Kinks - so pretty much irrelevant.

"Yesterday" the movie would exist, but the lead would be about one guy who woke up with all those post revolver albums in his memory but

Paul would have started his own band named Sergeant Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Band, would have been the ringleader and introduced Billy Shears, would have done the Ahhhhs instead of John, and would have enlisted George Martin and Geoff Emerick in making an experimental Summer of Love album with great production similar to the production of his songs on Revolver. After all, it’s a clean machine. The Sixties wouldn’t have devolved into Drug and Orgy Overdose Hell and the Vietnam War would have ended much sooner. The generation gap would have been bridged and an opioid epidemic 50 years later would not exist.

They would have finished on their greatest album.

Would it? Smile is more niche than Pet Sounds, I don't think it would have been seen as the greatest of all time or even the Beach Boys greatest. Good Vibrations was released almost a year before it and nothing else on that album has that same mass appeal or impact.

Maybe better - less emphasis on albums and concepts, more on songs.

    If so, perhaps:
Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side Of The Moon”
Genesis “The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway”
    Yes “Close To The Edge”
    Bruce Springsteen “Born To Run”
    Radiohead “OK Computer”
    ...would all cease to exist.

That’s not a musical world that I’d want to live in.

The fact that a given artist stopped years ago is irrelevant.
It doesn't make him a lesser artist.

I always wondered what if there were recording studios and a music industry in, say, the 10th century BF or whatever. I'd be totally interested.
