The Amazing were on one of my Spotify discovery mixes years ago and I bought the album based on this one song. One review described them as Peter Green era Fleetwood Mac. They are, well....
Eric Gadd (Why don't you, why don't I)...... wonderful neo-soul from Sweden Lisa Nilsson (Let Me in your heart)
Sounds good! As a huge The Church fan, I understand that ex-Church guitarist Marty Willson-Piper has become a member of Anekdoten?
Yes, he is touring with them but so far has not recorded with them. Their last album was released in 2015.
Why has noone mentioned Strindbergs? This is one of their poppier tracks, but they were always great: Thåström of Imperiet and other bands are usually considered Sweden's king of rock: Imperiet - 08 - Fred HQ Stry is the conneosoer's (spelling) choice in Swedish rock: Laddat lugn
Metal just wasn't a serious thing for me until this past year. Yet, Sabaton epitomizes the intelligent creativity and eminent listenability that have opened new personal horizons in the genre. For amateur - or even academically pedigreed - military historians, who've built libraries of written works with the same passion as their musical menageries, Sabaton is a spectacular discovery: a discography of albums predicated variously on major armed conflicts from Thermoplyae to the Gulf War. Credible research and cogent storytelling married to great music yield terrific songs that can be equally analyzed and enjoyed. It might be no coincidence that their consensus masterpiece, "Carolus Rex" (latinized name of Sweden's King Charles XII), details native subject matter: the rise and fall of the Swedish Empire in a span of a little over 100 years beginning in the early 1600s. I do love this album, and it was recorded in both English and Swedish; here's the title track in the former: (caution: this grainy amateur footage, reportedly shot with an iPhone prototype circa 1700, contains violence not suitable for emotionally fragile viewers)
Carbon Based Lifeforms proved another brilliant discovery from the land of flat pack furniture in 2019. Just prior to T'Giving, I was fortunate to purchase 4 of their 5 albums @$5 each during a holiday sale from Blood Music. In the crowded contemporary genre of ambient music, here with some acidic psych flavours, CBL is a titan to my tastes. Here's the title track from my favourite, and the band's most recent, titled "Derelicts": Carbon Based Lifeforms So, yeah, Sweden!
The Spotnicks, of course! Their guitarist, Bo Winberg, recently passed. He was a Gothenburg resident his whole life.
A few years ago I accidentally came across this very catchy number on YouTube - Raymond & Maria, Ingen vill veta var du köpt din tröja:
