I only need money for an Accuphase amp and RF7 III floorstanders. so just 10 grand will do for my endgame system.

$400,000 budget, which 100 original Jazz LPs to get?;)

I don't think there are many people on here with crazy money systems and most of those who have less expensive, but still costly systems have either bought their components when prices were much lower, bought used, or bought ex-demo, the gap between what I paid for my gear and what I'd have to pay to replace it is huge and none of my gear costs as much as a new car if I happened to drive which I don't.

Same for me, as bolded. I have bought used, demo, and gotten deals on new as well, or new with a generous trade-in allowance. I know what my system would be at retail since I have a personal articles insurance policy for it, but I haven't actually spent anything close to replacement cost, and I didn't buy it all at once either.

Very cool...good for her...that's kinda like manufacturer direct when it comes to hifi. Pimps are kinda like the lousy middleman hifi dealers who want a 40 to 50% cut for sitting on their fluffy hinys...working out the 'synergy' n all :D.

I recognize a couple/few of these. I used to enjoy Cognac, but Armagnac even more. I don't drink liquor anymore, just wine and beer. IPAs are my thing now.

I do find it amusing when I sometimes see pictures of audio reviewers' listening room in which they are reviewing mega-buck components. The components in the room might be 5 or 6 figures in total, but the room itself, especially for reviewers that live in big cities such as NYC, look like they are about 10' x 10' in size.

exactly. I loose any and all respect for these people that spend mega $$$ but are blissfully ignorant to room acoustics.
Hello ? McFly ??? Its the ceapest biggest bang for buck out there. Better than just loading up $$$ on any gear.

That’s what happens in a place where space is commonly priced at $1k/square foot and up. The standards and expectations are different based on where you live. But NYC is one of the great cities of the world and if anyone agrees with that definition then living there will involve trade-offs to do it. Whatever floats your boat.

Complete opposite for me. I read it and immediately understood, it is not a serious post. OP does not have 400k for a system.

I'd get in my car and travel around the country in season to all the best symphonies and operas, 2 or 3 performances a week, until the money ran out.

With a little luck I might get seated next to an under 30 hottie who enjoys travel and has a grandfather complex.

Not happening here (dozen miles north of Boston, MA). You might as well spend the 400K on upgrading your gear.
