Okay, cool. So, between my post and yours we've covered it. I'd be interested in seeing the info on other versions if anyone wants to contribute. Japanese, German or UK versions anyone?

But which one is the "real" version of this and what happened? That's my ultimate question here...

I would think the "real" copy (the approved mastering) is the UK version.

Hopefully someone can post track times and levels for a UK press.

I would suspect that the CDN would echo the UK version...

    Just my suspicion...

This site might help....give it time to load.....has many details, including different track times......you have to scroll about a third down for Laughing Stock info....

Strange...the UK has the timing as the longer intro at the beginning of the CD....

    That article includes this statement:

How can Taphead be cross-faded with After the Flood *and* have an extra piece of music preceding it?

Sorry for the threadcrap, then. I was trying to point out another grossly incorrect Wikipedia entry.

Actually, this box is not the album but the three singles that were released from the album. The six tracks were later duplicated on the "Missing Pieces" EP which also includes the track "Piano" (apparently, a solo Mark Hollis track).

I've got the SV pressing of "It's My Life" which was mastered from the digital tapes used to press the remastered CD. Don't really understand the point of this pressing. I wonder if the other SV Talk Talk pressings are also from digital masters.

I think what the Wikipedia entry means to say is that the two tracks are crossfaded on the UK version whereas there's an extra piece of music on the US version. I agree it's unclear as written.

I've just gotten into Talk Talk - I guess they went right over my head when they were contemporary. I have Spirit Of Eden and just found a used Laughing Stock this afternoon; wow. I tried to like the Blue Nile back in the day; this is what I think I was looking for. Spare, thoughtful composition, ambient (sort of) sonics, a Zen brushstroke of an album. You can almost imagine Miles Davis playing in this band. Recorded really well, too. Music that I shall be unpacking for a long time. I may get the Mark Hollis album, too.

    Welcome!

Funny you mention The Blue Nile because I've only just discovered/explored them this year. Have HIGH and HATS so far, love em both.

Yes, pick up Mark's solo CD. TT's COLOUR OF SPRING as well, if you don't already have it.

    Thanks - I believe I will!

I just remembered that I have all the files of the Talk Talk best-of CD in my iTunes library; I will be burning a CD of that tonight for listening.

Any opinions on the sound quality of this album ? I was listening to it tonight and maybe I'm tired or it's my headphones but I found it too bright. I have the canadian version. Would I be better off with the US or UK cd?
